Venezuelan warplanes intercept US military aircraft: Russian media

BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:45 P.M.) – A Venezuelan Su-30 fighter jet reportedly intercepted two U.S. military aircraft that approached their national airspace.

“A few hours ago, the Su-30MK2 fighter was urgently raised into the air on combat alert, the reason for which was the approach of two American military aircraft to the borders of Venezuela. A Russian-made fighting vehicle successfully dealt with two potential intruders at once,” the Russian publication Avia.Pro reported.

Citing unnamed sources, the publication said two U.S. aircraft took off from a military base in Puerto Rico and approached the territorial borders of Venezuela, which prompted the Venezuelan Air Force to get involved.

“TheSu-30MK2 fighter was raised to intercept them, which not only intercepted potential violators, but also successfully cracked down on two planes at once, forcing the latter to retreat,” they added.

A video circulating on social media shows the alleged footage of the Venezuelan Su-30 flying over the Barcelona region of Venezuela.

Here’s When Russia’s Military Will Get Giant New ‘Flying Radar’ AEW Aircraft

Russia began development of the Beriev A-100 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft in late 2014, with flight testing kicking off in late 2017. The aircraft is based on a heavily modified Ilyushin Il-76 strategic airlifter.

Russia’s Aerospace Forces will begin taking delivery of the new Beriev A-100 AEW&C planes in 2024, a source in Russia’s military industry has told Sputnik. “Testing is proceeding as scheduled,” the source said.

The A-100, christened by aircraft enthusiasts as the ‘Flying Radar’, is Russia’s next-generation airborne early warning aircraft, and is expected to complement and eventually replace the existing 20 or so Beriev A-50 and A-50U Shmel (‘Bumblebee’) AEW planes in the Aerospace Forces’ inventory today.

A biometric ID system can keep a record of [the infected] and those getting the vaccine, said Larry Dohrs, Southeast Asia head at iRespond, a Seattle-based nonprofit that launched its technology last month.

The pretense for this—as it was for the US decimation of Libya, Syria, and Iraq—is “humanitarianism,” according to iRespond and Simprints, a British NGO partnered with Johns Hopkins University’s Global mHealth Initiative, the latter connected to the US military and its “Dark Winter” and “Event 201” pandemic scenarios (see Whitney Webb: All Roads Lead to Dark Winter).

Total surveillance requires 24/7 monitoring of individuals—especially those included in the Main Core database of activists and political enemies of the state—and biometric technology introduced during the hysteria of an exaggerated health threat fits the bill.

Department of Justice Clears on Google’s Application to the Federal Communications Commission to Operate a Portion of the Pacific Light Cable Network System

Today, the Department of Justice filed a petition with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) concerning Google LLC’s application to operate a subsea cable.

On behalf of itself as well as the Departments of Homeland Security and Defense, the department advised the FCC that those agencies do not oppose Google LLC’s application (through its subsidiary GU Holdings Inc.) to operate the segment of the Pacific Light Cable Network System connecting the United States to Taiwan for the next six months, pending a final disposition of the license application, so long as that temporary authority is conditioned on certain obligations. Those obligations are set forth in a Provisional National Security Agreement that was executed by GU Holdings Inc. and the foregoing agencies on April 8, 2020. Google applied to the FCC for this operating authority in a Special Temporary Authority on April 2, 2020 (the “STA”).

In its application for the STA, Google emphasized “an immediate need to meet internal demand for capacity between the U.S. and Taiwan” and that without the sought temporary authority Google would likely have to seek alternative capacity at “significantly higher prices.” After discussions with Google representatives, the departments concluded that the obligations undertaken by Google in the Provisional National Security agreement would be sufficient to preserve their abilities to enforce the law, protect national security, and preserve public safety.

Taiwan Hits Back at WHO Chief for Saying He Received 'Racist' Comments

Earlier, the World Health Organisation's chief claimed that he has been subject to racial abuse from Taiwanese officials.

Taiwan has rejected accusations made by the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in which he claimed that he had become a target of racial abuse from Taiwanese officials.

The country's foreign ministry has demanded an apology from Mr Tedros.

"Without having checked the facts, Tedros’s unprovoked and untrue accusations not only differ from reality, they have also seriously harmed our government and our people… This kind of slander is extremely irresponsible,” the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Earlier this week, the WHO chief, who is a former Ethiopian health and foreign minister, said that since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, he has been receiving death threats and was called a "negro".

Pentagon Blasts ABC: No, We Didn’t Warn White House Of COVID-19 In November

Not only is it rare for intelligence agencies to issue public comments on its operation, it’s even rarer to have them do so to claim they missed a major issue. Yesterday, ABC News claimed that the DIA had warned the White House about the coronavirus outbreak in “late November.” The alleged report from the National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI), based on “wire and computer intercepts, focused on the threat to US forces in the Asia theater.

There’s only one problem, the NCMI late yesterday. They’ve looked all over for this alleged document, and it doesn’t exist:

Facebook is HAPPY to host communist China ads blaming TRUMP for the coronavirus, but won’t allow US companies to advertise protective equipment like masks

If you use social media, perhaps you’ve noticed recently that advertisers are blaming President Donald Trump for spreading the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). As it turns out, these advertisers are actually the Chinese state media in disguise, and corporations like Facebook are allowing the communist regime to spread this nasty propaganda, even as they prohibit the advertising of useful protective equipment like face masks.

According to reports, both Facebook and Instagram are being flooded by political ads claiming that President Trump is directly responsible for the COVID-19 virus, even though the most likely source of the virus is one of communist China’s virology laboratories.

These ads, in case you haven’t seen any, try to downplay communist China’s role in this global pandemic, instead shifting the blame entirely onto the president. An investigation by The Telegraph (United Kingdom) found that three Chinese state media outlets – Xinhua, China Central Television, and the Global Times – are actually the ones responsible for spreading these ads to users in countries all around the world, and in the languages of English, Chinese and Arabic.

Linda Tripp, who revealed Clinton-Lewinsky scandal dies

An American civil servant whose disclosure of an affair between Bill Clinton and a White House intern nearly brought down his presidency has died.

Linda Tripp, 70, passed away after suffering from pancreatic cancer, her family told US media on Wednesday.

Recordings Ms Tripp made of her conversations with Monica Lewinsky became central to the 1998 impeachment trial of then President Clinton.

She was variously praised as a whistle-blower and denounced as a partisan.

The former civil servant, who worked at the Pentagon and had a friendship with Ms Lewinsky despite their 24-year age difference, learnt that the younger woman had had a sexual relationship with the president and began secretly recording their conversations in 1997.

Ms Tripp turned the tapes over to Kenneth Starr, the special prosecutor leading a broad investigation into the Clinton administration.

Head of EU’s top science agency walks out of post

Prof Mauro Ferrari slams EU’s response to the coronavirus pandemic as he quits role

The head of the European Union’s top science agency walked out of his post and burned the bridge behind him with a caustic resignation statement that slammed internal politics and the bloc’s response to coronavirus.

Mauro Ferrari, an Italian-American scientist who took up the post of president of the European Research Council (ERC) only in January, wrote a 1,000-word statement denouncing the agency and its rejection of his idea to set up a special Covid-19 research programme.

“I have been extremely disappointed by the European response to Covid-19,” Prof Ferrari wrote, adding that his “idealistic dream of a United Europe” had been “crushed”.

“I am afraid that I have seen enough of both the governance of science, and the political operations at the European Union, ” he wrote.

The research council responded with a statement of its own, in which it said Prof Ferrari had quit after the 19 members of its Scientific Council had asked him to leave in a unanimous vote of no confidence.

How drivers license photos are aggregated and shared

During a press conference yesterday, President Trump announced a postponement of the “deadline” previously announced by the Department of Homeland Security for “enforcement” of the REAL-ID Act of 2005 at TSA checkpoints:

I’m also announcing that we’re postponing the deadline for compliance with REAL ID requirements…. We will be announcing the new deadline very soon. It’s going to be announced in a very short moment.

The REAL-ID Act “deadline” was set by DHS press release, not by law or regulation. It’s unclear if a new date will be announced by decree of the Secretary of Homeland Security, or by promulgation of regulations. There has been no further announcement by the DHS, and there is no notice of rulemaking in the Federal Register today.

As we noted yesterday, neither a postponement nor any of the other proposed amendments to the REAL-ID Act would address the central problems in this law: the requirement for states that want to be deemed “compliant” to share their drivers’ license and state-ID databases with all other states.

Compliance is optional, but the DHS has been threatening to have the TSA and its contractors harass residents of noncompliant states when they try to fly. In practice, states that want to comply with the REAL-ID Act have to upload information about all holders of state-issued licenses and IDs to the SPEXS national ID database operated by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).

Records show Iran lied about making nuclear weapons, scientists say

April 9 (UPI) – A non-profit global science and security group says in a new report that Iran has built a plant to produce nuclear weapons despite its insistence that all its atomic endeavors are wholly peaceful.

The Washington, D.C.-based Institute for Science and International Security said the 30-page report is based on documents from the Iran Nuclear Archive that were seized by Israel two years ago.

The analysis, posted Wednesday, said Tehran has "clearly" been dishonest with the International Atomic Energy Agency, which relies on government cooperation and onsite inspections. "Iran should declare this site to the International Atomic Energy Agency and allow its inspection, since the facility was designed and built to handle nuclear material subject to safeguards under Iran's comprehensive safeguards agreement," wrote scientists David Albright, Sarah Burkhard and Frank Pabian.
