On Wednesday Dr. Deborah Birx again stated the “models of the models” were continuing to project less and less coronavirus fatalities not because they were highly flawed but because Americans were obeying the lockdown orders.

Dr. Birx: “Many of you have done the analysis of the same models that we utilized. And if you do the models of the models you end up with that range… and they have consistently decreased the mortality… That is modeled on what America is doing. That is happening.”

Ten days ago on Sunday Dr. Deborah Birx spoke at the daily White House coronavirus press conference.

She followed Dr. Anthony Fauci who earlier estimated the United States will see from 100,000 to 200,000 coronavirus deaths in the coming weeks and months.

Dr. Birx said the Task Force is reevaluating numbers and is in agreement with the Chris Murray study that was released last Thursday.

The Chris Murray and IHME models have been consistently wrong in their outlandish over estimations of coronavirus deaths.

And back on March 30th — just 10 days ago — Dr. Birx told the American public that the estimated fatality numbers include mitigation from the American public!

Recovery Bill Exempts Fed From Much of Open Meetings Law

The recovery bill passed by Congress includes a provision that allows the Federal Reserve to organize a $450 billion bailout fund without having to adhere to much of the federal open meetings law, Politico reports.

This provision allows the Fed to hold meetings without the board giving a day’s notice beforehand. The central bank also would be exempted from keeping minutes at closed-door meetings, which could drastically reduce the amount of information the public receives about how the loan program was planned, including what could have influence the board’s decisions.

“We may never know what terms are being given to banks, what collateral is being offered, what repayment methods and duties banks and other financial institutions may have,” said media attorney Charles Glasser, who represented Bloomberg News in a lawsuit over public records involving the Fed after the 2008 financial crisis. “And these are important questions.”

Glasser added, “This is written too broadly and allows the Federal Reserve to avoid its responsibilities of public disclosure as the courts have described them.”

Crime Data Shows Coronavirus Pandemic Isn’t Slowing Violence Across Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) — The coronavirus pandemic is not only straining resources in Chicago hospitals but also on the streets. Despite the stay-at-home order, police responded to 19 shootings Tuesday night, six of which were homicides.

Overall crime was down in the last week, but robberies and shootings were up. The Chicago Police Department superintendent said the violence is draining the department’s resources that should be used to fight against COVID-19.

Tooth brushes, deodorant and toilet paper are packed in to ziplock bags and passed out on the street in West Garfield Park because the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago hopes providing those essentials will encourage residents to stay home.

“Not everyone is heeding it,” said Teny Gross, executive director at the institute. “So many young people have not.”

“In one ear and out the other,” said Shelbe Brown, with the institute.

Gross and Brown spent Tuesday evening responding to shootings.

“Yesterday was a horrific night,” said Gross. “The violence is not going down as much as it should.”

Saudi hospital on ‘high alert’ as 150 royals contract coronavirus

Saudi Arabia’s elite hospital, which treats members of the kingdom’s royal family, is said to be on “high alert” as senior members of the Al Saud clan become infected with COVID-19. As many as 150 royals in the kingdom are now believed to have contracted the virus, according to a report in the New York Times.

The highest royal to be infected so far is Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – the governor of the capital Riyadh who is in his 70s. He is said to be in intensive care after contracting the virus. Several dozen other members of the royal family have been sickened as well, reported the Times.

Doctors at the elite King Faisal Specialist Hospital are on “high alert” according to an internal memo sent out electronically on Tuesday to senior doctors and later obtained by the Times. According to the “high alert” the hospital is preparing 500 beds for a potential influx of VIP patients.

The internal memo said that the number of royals that could be brought in for intensive care is not known but it nonetheless contained instructions to clear out all chronic patients “ASAP” adding that only “top urgent cases” will be accepted.

Libya's Sarraj blames central bank amid oil blockade

Libya’s internationally recognised prime minister Fayez al-Sarraj on Wednesday said Central Bank of Libya governor Sadiq al-Kabir was to blame for the recent non-payment of salaries to state workers and the non-issuance of letters of credit, Reuters reports.

Friction between Sarraj and Kabir threatens to undermine the Tripoli government as it fends off a military assault, deals with a blockade of its main oil exports, and prepares to handle a coronavirus outbreak.

Sarraj said on al-Rasmiya television channel that he had “tried to avoid a war of words with the Central Bank of Libya, but things have really crossed all lines”.

He said the bank had to hold a board meeting, something that would bring together directors from across the divide of Libya’s conflict, in order to discuss changes he said Kabir seeks in the exchange rate.
