Chinese Doctor Shi Zhengli Ran Coronavirus Research in Wuhan After US Project Was Shut Down by DHS in 2014 for Being Too Risky – PRIOR LEAK KILLED RESEARCHER

Chinese Doctor Shi Zhengli was part of a team that working on a coronavirus project jointly with US doctors in 2014 before it was shut down by the DHS for being too risky.

After the US research project was shut down, Dr. Shi continued her coronavirus research in Wuhan, China.

In the article they discussed bat coronaviruses that showed potential for human emergence. The article was published in 2015.

This report was published shortly after their project was defunded by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The HHS in 2014 sent a letter to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where they announced they were going to defund the program.

Dr. Ralph S. Baric was identified in the letter.

After the work stopped in the US, the Chinese moved forward with the project and ran research and development in Wuhan at the Wuhan Virology Center. From Shi Zhengli’s papers and resume, it is clear that they successfully isolated the virus in the lab and were actively experimenting with species <-specie transmission.

In 2017, the Chinese had a similar release incident that sickened eight people and killed one. It started when two workers at a Chinese CDC lab independently isolated and experimented in vitro/vivo a SARS virus. In one of these sessions the scientists took a previously unknown variant of the SARS virus and moved it out from a BSL-4 high-containment facility into a low-safety diarrhea research lab where the two were working. Apparently, the virus inactivation process didn’t work properly and both were infected at the lab and then proceeded to infect other people outside of the lab.

Yesterday we noted that the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, Hubei Province in China was hiring individuals for an ecological study of bat migration and virus transmission in November of 2019.

We now know from Dr. Shi’s resume and papers that she was still working on the coronavirus at that time: According to National Review:

On December 24, 2019, the Wuhan Institute of Virology posted a second job posting. The translation of that posting includes the declaration, “long-term research on the pathogenic biology of bats carrying important viruses has confirmed the origin of bats of major new human and livestock infectious diseases such as SARS and SADS, and a large number of new bat and rodent new viruses have been discovered and identified.”

What happened up until January is still mostly a mystery. But now we have more evidence that China was working on the China coronavirus in a lab in Wuhan for years.

Cops Arrest One of Their Own for Using His Job to Recruit Children to Make Porn

Minneola, FL — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office in Minneola, Florida has arrested one of their own deputies this week after he was busted recruiting multiple girls to make pornographic videos for money. Deputy Jose Rodriguez is accused of recruiting several underage girls for these disturbing acts while he was on duty.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, they launched an investigation into Rodriguez after the Clermont Police Department received allegations that he had inappropriate conduct with underage girls. The Clermont police department forwarded the allegations to the sheriff’s office who began the investigation.

According to FOX 35, detectives reportedly learned that Rodriguez met with several teenage girls while on duty as a patrol deputy in the Minneola area.

Upon meeting the girls, detectives said that Rodriguez would recruit them to work with him at his secondary, off-duty job as a compliance inspector for ISN Corporation. This business contracts with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to verify various businesses’ compliance with state tobacco laws. The girls were reportedly used to make undercover purchases of tobacco products at Central Florida businesses.

Detectives said that three of the females who met Rodriguez while on-duty were offered an opportunity to make pornographic videos for money. These activities took place between 2016 and 2019. The females were between 16 and 17-years-old at the time.

When investigators confronted the alleged child porn-producing cop, he admitted to using his position as a deputy to recruit the girls to purchase tobacco for his job at the ISN Corporation. However, he pleaded the 5th after that and said no more.

On Tuesday, officers confronted Rodriguez at his home where he was arrested and charged with three counts of Solicitation to Commit Sexual Performance by a Child.

He has since been suspended and it is reported that termination proceedings are underway. While the idea of a cop recruiting children to make porn may be shocking to some, to the frequent readers of the Free Thought Project, it is par for the course. Police officers, even high-level commanders and decorated officers have been caught running child porn rings.

In 2018, Louisiana State Police Trooper of 18 years, Jason Boyet received one of the department’s highest honors—Trooper of the Year. Fast forward two years, and this hero cop is sitting in a jail cell after being arrested on charges of production and distribution of child pornography.

After Trooper Boyet was arrested in February, he was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail then transferred into protective custody at another facility—likely due to his police officer status. He was then put on administrative leave, not fired.

Belgium: Nearly 300 migrants released from detention centers

The Belgian Immigration Office has released 297 rejected asylum-seekers from detention centers in order to comply with the coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention guidelines.

The Immigration Office says that, due to migrants’ home countries refusing to take returnees at present due to coronavirus travel restrictions, coupled with the dangers of the infection spreading in crowded reception centers, there was no other legal option to continue holding them.

Maggie De Block, who is Belgium’s Minister of Health as well as Minister of Asylum and Migration, assured the public yesterday that all of the migrants who were released were examined individually and that none of them had committed crimes, according to a report by Het Laatste Niews.

204 people still remain in the reception centers. New social distancing regulations to prevent the spread of the virus prevent the centers from holding any more for as long as the emergency remains in effect. The same measures are being applied in the centers as in the rest of Belgium. Dept With Cop Facing 44 Criminal Charges for Rape, Sodomy Says it ‘Lost’ All Dashcam Footage

Chattanooga, TN — Over the years, the Free Thought Project has reported on some utterly bizarre behavior from law enforcement. From judges stealing women’s underwear to police officers offering homeless people sht sandwiches, this behavior never ceases to amaze and infuriate. Adding to this long list of “weird sht cops do” was a story out of Chattanooga last year, in which a police officer stripped to his underwear and forcibly “baptized” a woman he was arresting for having a marijuana roach. After this story garnered him national attention, an investigation was launched and Hamilton County Deputy Daniel Wilkey who was arrested last year and has been charged with more than 40 counts ranging from rape and sexual battery to oppression and extortion.

Now, it has been revealed that during the investigation, the department magically lost months of dashcam footage containing alleged evidence of this extremely bad cop’s crimes.

As Courthouse News reported, calling the loss of the data a “front-burner item,” U.S. Magistrate Judge Christopher Steger in Eastern District of Tennessee said that Hamilton County, which sits in the southeast corner of the state, had a duty to preserve evidence — including the dash-cam footage of the traffic stops in question.

Steger has now stepped in to see if the footage is actually gone or if the department is covering for this troublesome deputy.

The attorney for the woman who Wilkey “forcibly baptized” noted after requesting the footage that it has suddenly “gone missing.”

A few weeks ago, the woman’s attorney, Robin Flores, learned that the county admitted in another case in Tennessee state court that the server storing all the dash-cam footage the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office recorded from Oct. 25, 2018, to Jan. 23, 2020, suffered a software failure.

According to the county, all the footage is gone and unrecoverable.

The preservation request from the court points out that the date range of the “lost” footage covers most of the incidents over which Wilkey is being sued.

According to Courthouse News, William Klaver, who is representing himself in his suit against Wilkey and the county, said the timing of the downed server was too convenient — months after he filed his complaint in July – and the county kept the plaintiffs in the dark for weeks after learning of the loss.

“I don’t believe a word they said so far,” Klaver said.

Summing up the ridiculous nature of this claim, Techdirt points out that the department “took 180 hours of dashcam footage, moved it to an external hard drive, and than claimed a “software failure” suddenly made all of this evidence irrecoverable. There’s no reason to believe this was an accident — not until the Sheriff’s office makes some sort of showing it actually cares about the people it’s supposed to be protecting and serving.”

As TFTP reported at the time, Wilkey, 26, was indicted on 44 charges stemming from allegations of inappropriate behavior and assault while he was working for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Wilkey has been named, along with other HCSO deputies, in four lawsuits that accuse him of misconduct during traffic stops. The alleged misconduct ranges from a forced baptism, groping underage girls and an illegal, forcible drug search, AP reports.

Salvini urges Italian government to reject EU coronavirus ‘loans’

Italy’s preeminent populist lawmaker and former interior minister Matteo Salvini has urged the country’s ruling coalition government to refrain from accepting EU loans that would “aid” its embattled economy amid the Chinese COVID-19 outbreak.

Senator Salvini, who’s also leader of the Right-wing populist League party and Italy’s most trusted politican, brushed off the viability of EU proposals to help Italy to deal with the coronavirus crisis, arguing that the loans would burden Italy’s younger generations, the Daily Express reports.

Instead of accepting loans from the EU, the former interior minister said that Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe, an establishment leftist, should issue treasury bonds to help mend the economy that’s been devastated by the Chinese COVID-19 virus.

“Many people ask me ‘what would you do if you were still in charge?’, I would ask Italian people for the money to let the country recover,” Salvini said during an interview with Italian broadcaster La7.

“I don’t believe in measures like the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), which is still talked about in Berlin, Amsterdam and Brussels because it would be a debt imposed on our children,” the populist Senator added.

“It would mean more equity and more precarious jobs.”

“I would apply an extraordinary issue of treasury bonds for Italian citizens, entrepreneurs and investors, guaranteed by the Government and by the European Central Bank – as this is its role – so that the Italian debt to fix roads, build hospitals and new police stations will be in the hands of Italian citizens with advantageous tax conditions.”

“I don’t trust loans coming from Europe, which will then mean – as we have seen in Greece for example -that airports, rails and even monuments will be sold to the highest bidder.”

So far, finance ministers from EU-member states have failed to agree on the terms of a financial aid package that would be dispersed to EU country’s who’ve been disproportionally affected by the Chinese COVID-19 virus outbreak.

While Belgium, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain have called for “corona bonds” to be issued, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Finland have so far opposed the plan.

US citizens in Lebanon decline repatriation offer, saying it's 'safer' in Beirut

Carly Fuglei was with a group of Danish friends in Beirut last month when she first considered moving back to the United States. They were preparing to leave Lebanon amid fears of a major coronavirus outbreak there, and tried to convince her to do the same.

But the 28-year-old humanitarian consultant from Montana decided to stay. After Lebanon closed its borders on March 19 to stem the spread of the global pandemic, she began furnishing her rooftop terrace. Her time in Beirut, she realized, would be indefinite.

"I made that decision for a combination of personal reasons and calculations about the virus that we're all making," says Fuglei. "I think that I am probably safer here."

It's a decision that several US citizens in Beirut who CNN spoke to have echoed, citing skyrocketing cases in the US. When the US government last week said it would fly its citizens and permanent residents to the US on a chartered flight for $2,500 per person, some Americans took to Twitter to publicly decline the offer.

"And no, Mom, I'm not going," Beirut-based freelance journalist Abby Sewell wrote in a tweet about the US embassy announcement.

Responding to her tweet, a Lebanese journalist said: "For once I'm like no America is not safer than here." Sewell's mother, Meg Sewell, replied: "Actually, for the moment I might have to agree."

Sewell tells CNN she never considered taking the US embassy's offer.

"From everything I'm reading, the situation is worse in the US, in terms of the number of cases, prevention measures or lack thereof, and how overburdened the health system is," she says.

"Also, since I've been living overseas for years, I don't have health insurance in the US now, so if I did go back and then got sick, I would be looking at paying thousands of dollars out of pocket."

Food supply shutdown: US meat processing plants suspend operations, dairy farmers told to quit, farmers dumping produce

Several meat processing plants around the U.S. are sitting idle this week because workers have been infected with the coronavirus. Tyson Foods, one of the country’s biggest meat processors, says it suspended operations at its pork plant in Columbus Junction, Iowa, after more than two dozen workers got sick with COVID-19. National Beef Packing stopped slaughtering cattle at another Iowa plant, and JBS USA shut down work at a beef plant in Pennsylvania.

Most farms and food companies are continuing to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic. There’s concern that the coronavirus could spread among workers doing some of the most labor-intensive jobs, including meat processing.

Christine McCracken, a top meat industry analyst with RaboResearch Food & Agribusiness, told NPR via email that these plant closings aren’t yet having a significant impact on the overall supply of meat to consumers, but there’s increasing concern in the industry about worker shortages.

“Most processors I work with have seen a significant increase in absenteeism,” McCracken wrote. “Whether that is due to actual COVID-19 issues, childcare issues (with the closure of schools) or even fear of contracting the disease it is unclear. In some cases, the decline in available workers is severe.”

Coronavirus Hasn’t Stopped Jared Kushner’s Real Estate Empire From Hounding Tenants With Debt Collection, Eviction Lawsuits

Jared Kushner’s family real estate company, which owns and manages thousands of apartment units, continued its aggressive eviction practices and debt collection lawsuits as Americans wait for government relief. Well into the coronavirus crisis, which has led to skyrocketing unemployment, court records show properties owned by Kushner Companies are still filing new eviction lawsuits.

At least 15 tenants in New Jersey and Maryland have been on the receiving end of lawsuits from Kushner-owned properties even after both states declared states of emergency. Govs. Phil Murphy, D-N.J., and Larry Hogan, R-Md., have both called for a moratorium on evictions and courts have been closed, postponing hearing dates for a range of debt collection-related activities.

The Maryland and New Jersey moratoriums on evictions, however, do not prevent debt collectors from filing new lawsuits.

On March 25, Westminster Management, a unit of Kushner Companies, filed a lawsuit requesting sheriff services to enforce an eviction against a man residing at the company’s Harbor Point Estate apartment in Essex, Maryland. Days later, on March 30, Kushner’s company filed a collection lawsuit against another man in the same complex.

The previous week, on March 19, Oxford Arms, a Kushner-owned apartment complex in Edison, New Jersey, filed six lawsuits against tenants. Other lawsuits have been filed in recent weeks against tenants by legal entities tied to the Whispering Woods complex in Middle River, Maryland; the Cove Village complex in Essex, Maryland; and the Pier Village building in Long Branch, New Jersey — all of which are owned by Kushner.
