You may be an example of why. You have people now with time to study events at a deeper level. Before they were too busy trying to make ends meet to really delve into anything deeper than accepting what the MSM was telling them.
In that scenario, with a huge swath of the population uninformed and ripe for manipulation, any 'power play' by the administration would have been likened to Trump being the 2nd coming of Hitler, and just trying to wipe out political rivals. Just look at the Ukraine call where the MSM went ape-shit in unison that Trump was just trying to take out Biden for political purposes. Biden, "leading in the polls", they said. All bullshit.
Now people are engaged with current events, have time on their hands and skin in the game. If someone was arrested now, with evidence that they created the pandemic/economic shutdown for political purposes, the 10% of the fuck-ups who would want to demonstrate about it would get the shit kicked out of them by an enraged populace
Good guys had to wrestle control of the narrative and be ready to act, so that when the cabal was in dire straits and pulled off a desperation shit storm, the good guys would be set up to inform the public of what really happened. POTUS has the bully pulpit at this point with the virus briefings being a ratings monster.
