It would be better if tonic water manufacturers would tell us exactly how much quinine is in tonic water.
It also would be good if there were any kind of studies that gave us a clue as to how much quinine we should take a day to prevent various viruses. But we don't have that.
One method to get 8 liters worth of Quinine without drinking 8 liters of tonic water is - boil it. Boil off excess water. Take 8 liters (approx 2 gallons) of tonic water, put it in a pretty big pot on the stove, and boil it. If you do that for a long time, you'll have a lot of quinine in not much liquid. So, sure, yes, definitely, we'd want a perfect tonic water that gives us exactly how much quinine we want (we don't know how much that is), but the fact that heat boils off water really allows us to get a richer mix, if we wanted to. And yes, tonic water with natural organic maple syrup would probably be better than high fructose corn syrup. But in 2020, I think we all know that things are shittier than ever (on the other hand, you have throwback with real sugar, that's a good thing).
