Why is Easter such a big holiday for Christians?

For Christians, Easter is a celebration of Christ's victory over death. When Jesus was crucified he took the punishment for all of mankind's sin. Since God is holy, he can have no part of sin. Jesus's death, and separation from God was part of that punishment. He took our place and our due punishment. If the story had ended there, Jesus would not be God. When he rose three days after His death this proved His life's teaching that He was God. His victory over death, became our victory over sin and death. This is true hope. That hope is what Christians celebrate. We have hope because no matter our sin, Jesus paid the price for it, and we can be forgiven. This means we can be reconciled with God. Because this means that Christians can be free of sin's curse, we celebrate Easter and enjoy the hope that it brings.

So Happy Easter to all! May God bless you and your family on this wonderful day of hope!
