1947: The US military establishes a secret film unit headquartered deep in Laurel Canyon. From the Lookout Mountain Air Force station, a staff of more than 250 filmmakers with top-secret clearance travel the world documenting nuclear bomb blasts from as close as two miles away.
1963: The covert film studio closes after the world's nuclear powers all agree to move testing underground.
1971: Actor Jared Leto is born in Bossier City, Louisiana. Echelon, the global surveillance and intelligence collection operation run by the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, makes its official launch.
1994: Leto lands his breakout role as Jordan Catalano in My So-Called Life. Artist Mark Lipscomb and lawyer/judge John Ladner buy the 1.7-acre Lookout Mountain property for $750,000 to use as a residence.
