One of my kids lived in the UK going to college. For emergencies NHS was good, but for other stuff would fly home (in Central Europe).

 

I asked why. Answer was no one wanted to go into medicine because the pay sucked. Ergo, not enough doctors. Pretty well known area we're talking about here, so the best and the brightest in the UK are shunning medicine.

 

New Zealand and Portugal are the operative words, here.

Reports (rumors) I saw in the early days mentioned lab workers would sell test animals to the markets for pocket money.

 

This is the kind of shit you'd like to discount immediately, but it looks like the curtain is going to be pulled on what really happens in China. Fold up the tray and fasten your seat belt, it's going to be a wild fucking ride.

Yes. That's what my kid said. Have to wait too long because there are not enough doctors. Pay sucks so no one wants to do it.

 

Emergency care was good, the one time it was necessary. Kid was an athlete, though, and getting the usual injuries taken care of was impossible. MRI, for example, forget it.
