One of the Largest US Pork Processing Plants Is Closing Indefinitely
One of the country’s largest pork processing plants is shutting down until further notice as employees have contracted the CCP virus, putting the U.S. meat supply at risk, according to the CEO of Smithfield, the operator.
“The closure of this facility, combined with a growing list of other protein plants that have shuttered across our industry, is pushing our country perilously close to the edge in terms of our meat supply,” Smithfield’s chief executive, Kenneth Sullivan, said in a statement on Sunday.
“It is impossible to keep our grocery stores stocked if our plants are not running,” Sullivan added. “These facility closures will also have severe, perhaps disastrous, repercussions for many in the supply chain.”
The plant, which is located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, accounts for between 4 percent and 5 percent of the nation’s pork production and employs some 3,700 workers, Smithfield said.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem confirmed on Saturday that 238 Smithfield workers had contracted the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, accounting for more than half of the state’s total, reported KELO. The mayor of Sioux Falls and Noem both recommended that Smithfield shut down the plant for two weeks at the minimum.

Without the Resurrection, "we would still be in a world of mystery and probably in a world of repressive empires," Rodney Stark, a social sciences professor at Baylor University and author of many books including The Victory of Reason: How Christianity Led to Freedom, Capitalism, and Western Success, told PJ Media in an interview.
"Remember, at the dawn of history, people didn't live in really tiny countries — they lived under huge, huge empires, nasty ones," the professor added. He argued that Christianity historically has been the driving force behind limited government, science, capitalism, the abolition of slavery, medicine, organized charities, and more — and that Christianity would have been impossible without the belief in the Resurrection.
"Without the Resurrection, you don't have Christianity, and without Christianity, you don't have any of this," Stark declared.
Indeed, the New Testament says as much. In I Corinthians 15:17, Paul wrote, "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins." The gospels all agree on one count — that Jesus's disciples scattered, and Peter rejected him, around Jesus' crucifixion. That manner of death, besides being the most painful, was also the most disgraceful, and it stands to reason that Christianity would have died were it not for belief in the Resurrection.

High Court dismisses petition seeking to block Netanyahu from being tasked as PM
Judge says filing premature, as case is hypothetical unless Rivlin gives Likud leader the mandate
The High Court on Sunday evening threw out a petition filed earlier in the day seeking to disqualify Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from forming a government due to his corruption charges, saying it was filed too early.
Justice Alex Stein ruled that the petition was premature, since, despite President Reuven Rivlin saying he would not extend Benny Gantz’s mandate to form a coalition, he also had not tasked Netanyahu with doing so.
Two previous High Court petitions have been rejected in recent months on similar grounds, including after the September elections, when Netanyahu had not yet been formally indicted.
Stein said in his ruling that in the event that Rivlin tasks Netanyahu with cobbling together a coalition, the petition could be filed again and considered.
The petition, filed by 117 high-tech, business, security and education professionals, came minutes after Rivlin announced he would not extend Gantz’s mandate to form a government, and suggested he would not transfer the mandate to Netanyahu.
Israeli law requires cabinet ministers facing criminal indictment to resign from their cabinet posts, but there is no such stipulation for a prime minister.

Wendy Morton, British MP and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood, thanked Turkey on Saturday for medical supplies sent to the UK – one of the worst-hit countries by the coronavirus.

The delivery of the aid was covered extensively in the foreign press and Turkey received thanks from British Twitter users.

Health workers have complained about the lack of medical equipment in the UK and criticised the government as 19 health officials have died because of of COVID-19.
After originating in Wuhan, China last December, COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, has spread to at least 185 countries and regions across the world. The pandemic has killed nearly 110,000 people and infected over 1.78 million, while almost 410,000 people have recovered from the disease, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.

Bill Gates has emerged as a global “authority” in the wake of COVID-19, funding vaccines and advising governments on how to respond to the pandemic.

U.S. Offers $10 Million Reward For Information On Senior Hezbollah Commander
The U.S. Department of State’s Rewards for Justice program has offered a reward of up to $10 million for information on Muhammad Kawtharani, a senior commander of Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
Kawtharani is Hezbollah’s most senior official in Iraq. He is known to be responsible for promoting the group’s interests there.
In an official statement, the U.S. accused Kawtharani of undertaking some of the tasks of Iran’s Quds Force Commander Maj. Gen. Qassim Soleimani, who was assassinated earlier this year. Another US claim is that Kawtharani works to support pro-Iranian armed groups in Iraq.
“As a member of Hezbollah’s Political Council, Kawtharani has worked to promote Hezbollah’s interests in Iraq, including Hezbollah efforts to provide training, funding, political, and logistical support to Iraqi Shi’a insurgent groups,” the statement, that was released on April 11, reads.
Kawtharani has citizenships of both Lebanon and Iraq. He is reportedly registered under two names – Mohamad and Jafar – and has three different birth dates; 1945, 1959 and 1962.
Kawtharani was designated as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” by the U.S. Department of the Treasury back in August of 2013.
The U.S. ramped up its sanctions on Hezbollah last year, offering rewards for information on senior commanders of the group and on its financial network. However, these measures have yielded no known results, thus far.

Goodie Tim Brooke-Taylor dies after contracting coronavirus
London: British performer Tim Brooke-Taylor, a member of comedy trio The Goodies, has died after contracting coronavirus. He was 79.
Brooke-Taylor's agent says he died on Sunday morning.
Brooke-Taylor was part of Cambridge University's Footlights revue, the breeding ground of several generations of British comic talent. He broke into radio and television comedy in the 1960s alongside future Monty Python members John Cleese and Graham Chapman.
Brooke-Taylor went on to form The Goodies with Graeme Garden and Bill O
The trio specialised in slightly surreal sketches incorporating visual inventiveness, slapstick and songs.
Their song Funky Gibbon even became a UK top 10 chart hit in 1975.
Their TV show, which ran throughout the 1970s, was a hit in Britain, Australia and New Zealand and developed a cult following in many other countries.
The Goodies formed part of a golden era of British television comedy in the 1960s and 70s that included Monty Python's Flying Circus and Not the Nine O'Clock News.
For more than 40 years, Brooke-Taylor was also a panellist on BBC radio's much loved comic quiz show I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.
Goodies co-star Garden said Brooke-Taylor was "a funny, sociable, generous man who was a delight to work with. Audiences found him not only hilarious but also adorable".
"His loss at this dreadful time is particularly hard to bear," Garden said.
Writer-performer Stephen Fry tweeted: "Just heard the devastating news of the death of Tim Brooke-Taylor. A hero for as long as I can remember, and - on a few golden occasions - a colleague and collaborator on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. Gentle, kind, funny, wise, warm, but piercingly witty when he chose to be. So sad."
Brooke-Taylor is survived by his wife, Christine, and two sons.

In a statement to SANA, he affirmed the need to abide by the government’s anti-Coronavirus measures so as to guarantee the safety for all.

UAE Purchased ‘Advanced’ Israel Air-Defense System To Shoot Down Turkish Drones In Libya – Report
The UAE has purchased an “advanced” Israeli air-defense system to shoot down Turkish combat drones operating in Libya, the New Arab reported on April 10.
According to the London-based outlet, the system was bought from an Israeli defense company and then shipped directly to Egypt. Officers of the Libyan National Army (LNA) are allegedly training on the system there.
The New Arab said the UAE purchased the unidentified system to “save” the LNA’s attack on the capital, Tripoli. The outlet claimed that the LNA sustained catastrophic losses in recent Turkish drone strikes.
While it remains unclear if the LNA is using Israeli weapons, the use of such weapons by Turkish forces in Libya and their ally, the Government of National Accord (GNA), is well-documented.
Last July, the LNA shot down two Israeli-made Orbiter-3 tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near the town of al-ʿAziziyah south of the country’s capital, Tripoli. The Jerusalem Post revealed later that the UAVs were part of a three-unit donated by Turkey to pro-GNA forces.
Earlier this month, LNA forces uncovered the wreckage of an IAI Harop loitering munition near the village of Hamada in eastern Libya. The munition was produced by Israel Aerospace Industries in Azerbaijan and exported to Turkey.
As for now, it is impossible to verify the New Arab’s claims. However, it is not a secret that the outlet is critical of the LNA and its backers, UAE and Egypt. Another issue with the report is that the LNA and its allies are already countering the threat of Turkish drones with much success.
A day after the release of the New Arab’s report, a Turkish combat drone was shot down by the LNA, or more likely UAE forces, over northern Libya. In the last six months, at least 24 Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones were downed in the war-torn country.

COVID-19 Revives Grim History of Medical Experimentation in Africa
The mad rush by scientists and researchers to test potential treatments for COVID-19 in scientific trials has revived a heated debate over the use of humans in critical drug trials in Africa.
On April 1, two French researchers, Dr. Jean-Paul Mira, and Camille Locht, suggested on a live television broadcast that trials of a potential vaccine should first take place in Africa, according to Al Jazeera. Dr. Mira, head of the intensive care unit at Cochin Hospital in Paris, compared the current situation to “certain AIDS studies, where among prostitutes, we try things because we know that they are highly exposed and don’t protect themselves.”
The two researchers made these comments in the context of a discussion of trials in Europe and Australia to see if the BCG tuberculosis vaccine be effective against the novel coronavirus. In Australia, trials are being conducted on at least 4,000 healthcare workers.
The attitude of these researchers echoes a long, grim history of medical experimentation and exploitation in Africa, where African leaders have colluded with pharmaceutical companies — often based in Europe or the United States — to conduct trials on the most vulnerable people in society.
The researchers’ remarks immediately sparked condemnation and outrage, with the trending hashtag phrase, “Africans are not guinea pigs.”

By April 3, Dr. Mira had apologized for his comments, but only after major pushback and pressure from the France-based anti-racism group SOS Racisme. Dr. Locht’s employer, however, dismissed the outrage on Twitter as “fake news,” saying that the remarks had been taken out of context.
That same week, Congolese virologist Jean-Jacque Muyembe, who worked on the frontlines of the Ebola epidemic in Democratic Republic of Congo, announced that DR Congo “is prepared to take part in testing of any future vaccine against the coronavirus,” according to News 24.
Muyembe, the head of the nation’s pandemic task force and national health institute, told a news conference:
We’ve been chosen to conduct these tests … The vaccine will be produced in the United States, or in Canada, or in China. We’re candidates for doing the testing here.

Leaked Photos and Video From Fort Dix Federal Prison in New Jersey Shows No Social Distancing or Masks, Despite Confirmed Coronavirus Case
Photos and a video provided to the Gateway Pundit by an inmate at Fort Dix federal correctional institution in New Jersey reveals no masks for inmates or guards, no social distancing, and spoiled food being served to prisoners.
The lack of precaution, endangering both prisoners and staff, continued even after Fort Dix had their first confirmed coronavirus case. There are currently over 3,000 inmates at the low-security federal prison.
Speaking to the Gateway Pundit on the condition of anonymity, a prisoner explained that he feels like the prison is endangering everyone in the building. The photos and videos provided show very few prisoners wearing masks while a large group was congregated in the yard.
“The staff aren’t wearing masks and are still shaking us down aka touching all our stuff. They aren’t implementing social distancing AT ALL,” the inmate explained. “They actually made it worse cramming all the rooms full with 12 people. Serving us outdated and moldy food. There is already a confirmed case of an inmate and guard with coronavirus so it’s already here. They need to start letting people go on home confinement.”
The inmate provided photos and a video, in which you can only see one prisoner wearing a mask and a clear lack of social distancing. He also photographed a meal he was served with moldy bread.
On April 7, the prison had their first confirmed case of the virus when an inmate tested positive.
Responding to an inquiry about how the prison is handling the pandemic, the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) sent a lengthy response claiming that they are working hard to prevent the spread of the virus and linked to their guidance. Many of their claims are contradicted by the evidence that was provided to TGP.
“The BOP has instituted a comprehensive management approach that includes screening, testing, appropriate treatment, prevention, education, and infection control measures,” the BOP said in their statement to Gateway Pundit. “The BOP has been coordinating our COVID-19 efforts since January 2020, using subject-matter experts both internal and external to the agency, including guidance and directives from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Office of the Vice President.”
In our initial email, we asked if they were concerned that by not providing inmates and staff with masks they were putting everyone in danger. They did not directly respond to this question. We additionally asked if it was due to a lack of supplies or because they don’t believe it’s necessary. They also ignored this question.

The Takeover
We can’t print ourselves out of this crisis again, but that isn’t stopping the Federal Reserve from trying. Thursday’s intervention program, the latest in a string of panic moves to keep the financial system afloat, constitutes a complete takeover attempt of the market ecosphere, only the buying of stocks directly is last missing piece of eventual complete central bank control of equity markets. Not only that, the Fed is buying junk corporate debt propping up companies that should be let to fail as Chamath Palihapitiya pointed out poignantly this week. But not this Fed, no, with its actions it is again setting up the economy for yet another slower growth recovery, financed by even more debt.
QE doesn’t produce growth, that is the established track record:
Asset price inflation to save markets in the hopes of trickle down growth to come.

The message the Fed is again is sending is to invite reckless behavior on the side of investors, the same reckless, TINA, fueled behavior that got us the bubble blow-off top in February.

Israeli Health Minister Labeled 'Murderer' by Graffiti in Jerusalem – Report
The graffiti were possibly related to a lockdown imposed upon areas of Jerusalem where high rates of coronavirus infections were detected, including several ultra-orthodox neighborhoods.
A number of spray-painted graffiti denouncing Israeli Health Minister Yaakov Litzman were discovered on the walls of Jerusalem's ultra-orthodox Mea Shearim neighborhood on 12 April, The Times of Israel reports.
According to the newspaper, the graffiti, which brand Litzman as a "murderer" and "Amalek" (biblical enemy of the Israelites) appears to be an act of protest against a lockdown of the areas of the city where high rates of coronavirus infections were detected, as some of said areas apparently include ultra-orthodox districts.
While municipal officials were dispatched to clean up the "vandalism", the police have already opened an investigation into the matter.
Citing data released by Israel's Health Ministry, the newspaper noted that "about 75 percent of the infections in Jerusalem have occurred in ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods".
So far, Israel's Health Ministry has documented over 10,000 cases of the novel coronavirus and more than 100 deaths.

Why Are Some Respected Alt-media Embracing a Police State?
It should be obvious by now to anyone that the covid19 pandemic, whatever its origins, is being used to fast forward a "new normal" world of unparalleled government power, surveillance and curtailment of individual liberty.
We are looking already at:
Compulsory DNRs for some elderly.
Biometric chips or bracelets to monitor whether or not you have permission to be outside your home or engage in work
Drone surveillance as normal.
Apps on your phone that can detect any breach of the self-isolation policy.
Huge new police powers of arrest and detention for anyone suspected of carrying the virus.
Suspension of elections for indefinite periods at government discretion
And this is only the starter course. We can be pretty sure they are currently just easing us in. The real stuff will be rolling along in the next months or maybe years (depending on how quickly they feel able to get this on).
This is the fabric of nightmare. A worst-case horror story that is the absolute quintessence of everything the alt-media is supposed to oppose.
Surely, you would think, any self-respecting alt-media person would be opposing this with everything they have while they still have a voice.
Well, some of us are of course. And we're going to be posting links to other sites currently doing great work challenging this rollout.
But, weeks into this crisis, there are some very prominent voices still refusing to either question the official narrative of the pandemic or unequivocally condemn the fast dawn of the "new normal" Brave New World.
We've held off from confronting this for a while now. We figured people needed time to adjust or wake up to the reality of what was happening. It's shocking after all, and deeply disorienting, and different individuals need different amounts of time to get their bearings when something that shakes their worldview comes along.
But adjustment time is long over by now.
Let's also be clear, we're not condemning people for simply disagreeing with us. We expect disagreement on some issues. It's a source of strength for all of us.
But this is not about relatively minor differences of opinion or interpretation.
This is sophisticated analysts, with resources and experience, failing to condemn, and even supporting, what amounts to de facto international martial law.
This is Labour activists who mere weeks ago were calling Boris Johnson a murderer and psychopath, now cheering as he is handed total control of their lives and their children's lives.
This is respected journalists, commentators and academics who loudly condemned the cynical lies about WMDs or 'chemical attacks' in Douma, the fake videos and fake White Helmets, suddenly and uncritically accepting the veracity of every government virus narrative, every unsourced video and media meme that has #covid19 as a hashtag.

Putin Holds Separate Telephone Talks on Oil Markets, OPEC+ Deal With Donald Trump, Saudi King Salman
Earlier in the day, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) as well as non-cartel oil producers held an extraordinary meeting online to finalize the new deal. The initial deal was also negotiated online by the group this past week to cut production by 10 million barrels per day, although Mexico was the lone dissenting vote.
Russian President Vladimir Putin held separate phone conversations with the US President Donald Trump and the king of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The leaders discussed the OPEC+ deal and exchanged views on the oil market.
Putin, Trump and Salman support the OPEC+ decision to gradually cut oil production, according to a Kremlin press service statement.
"The leaders have supported the agreement reached by the OPEC+ on the phased voluntary reduction of oil production in order to stabilize global markets and ensure the sustainability of the global economy as a whole. This deal is coming into force," the statement read.
The parties also agreed that they would continue to be in contact with each other on the matter.
During the Putin-Trump phone conversation, the leaders discussed strategic security and exchanged views on the oil market. In addition, Putin wished Trump and US citizens, celebrating Easter, happy holidays.
"The exchange of views on the situation in the oil markets was continued. Once again, the importance of the OPEC+ deal to reduce oil production was noted. Pressing issues of ensuring strategic security were also discussed," the Kremlin press service statement read.
Following the talks, Trump thanked and congratulated both the Russian and Saudi leaders, tweeting that the deal "will save hundreds of thousands of energy jobs in the United States".
This comes after OPEC and non-cartel oil producers reached a new deal stipulating a collective reduction in oil output by an approximate 10 million barrels per day effective May 1. The online meeting began earlier in the day.

NHS hospitals try treating Covid-19 with Hydroxychloroquine, anti-malaria drug hotly debated following Trump support
Coronavirus patients at two UK hospitals are reportedly now receiving hydroxychloroquine treatment. The drug, touted by US President Donald Trump as a “game changer,” quickly came under scrutiny from his political opponents.
According to a report published on Sunday in the Telegraph, Covid-19 patients at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital are being treated with hydroxychloroquine, an antimalarial drug first developed in the 1950s.
“Barts Health NHS Trust has convened an expert clinical group to consider novel medications in the treatment of Covid-19,” a spokesman for the London hospital told the newspaper, adding that a select number of patients have been given hydroxychloroquine.
If the tests at Bart’s and Royal Devon are successful, the drug could then see widespread use at NHS hospitals across the UK.
Its effectiveness is hotly debated among scientists, and evidence for and against its effectiveness is thus far “anecdotal,” to quote President Trump’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci. Moreover, it is one of several existing medications – including HIV and Ebola drugs – currently showing potential in the treatment of Covid-19.
Trump’s support for the drug has made the hydroxychloroquine debate a political one. The National Institutes of Health began testing its effectiveness on Thursday, but Trump has long been an advocate for its use, describing it as a “game changer” after news media picked up on a promising study by French biologist Didier Raoult last month. French President Emmanuel Macron recently met with Raoult, in a three-hour private meeting Macron’s staff say was part of a wide consultation process.

If it does, it will pit Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mossad Director Yossi Cohen and others against Blue and White leaders Benny Gantz and Gabi Ashkenazi, as well as IDF Chief of Staff Lt.- Gen. Aviv Kochavi, over how to deal with Iran.
According to numerous interviews by The Jerusalem Post with current and former Mossad, CIA and other national security officials in the US and Israel, a point may get closer where the Islamic Republic of Iran will escalate its levels of uranium enrichment dangerously close to levels where it could weaponize within a short period.
This will draw Netanyahu, Cohen and their camp closer to a desire to preemptively strike Iran, while Gantz, Ashkenazi, Kochavi and their camp are more likely to define the “point of no return” – after which Tehran cannot be stopped from going nuclear – as a good bit later.
This debate would echo the all-out fight between Netanyahu and Gantz and Ashkenazi in 2010 and afterwards.
During that period, the Blue and White MKs followed each other as IDF chiefs and, especially Ashkenazi, helped block an Israeli preemptive strike, along with then-Mossad chiefs Meir Dagan and Tamir Pardo.
Pardo has since confirmed that he even discussed the issue with then-attorney-general Yehuda Weinstein. He explained that he believed a Netanyahu order to move pieces in place for a near-immediate attack on Iran without full security cabinet approval was illegal and said Weinstein confirmed his position.
There are multiple narratives, with one involving confusing moves by Netanyahu and then-defense minister Ehud Barak to merely scare the world into thinking they would attack.
But the majority public narrative is that the defense establishment’s opposition blocked Netanyahu and Barak from launching an attack.
Most expert estimates already have Tehran’s time to break out for a nuclear bomb – if it chooses to do so, which all agree it has not yet – down from 12 months to between three and a half to six months.
