just watched this 70's movie called Phase IV.
two scientists wag war against super intelligent ants endowed with wisdom from some cosmic influence.
the phases are their stages of attack against the ants, phase 4 was the scientists last move before they loose, it amounts essentially to them either dieing or surrendering.
