'Always a Waste of Time': Trump Threatens to Adjourn US Congress to Make Recess Appointments

The US president threatened on Wednesday to adjourn the federal legislature in order push through a series of recess appointments.

US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday there had been “a concerted effort" by congressional Democrats "to make life difficult” by refusing to approve his nominations for several vacant offices.

“Whether it’s Russia Russia Russia, or whether its impeachment hoax … it’s always a waste of time,” he told reporters outside the White House.

The remarks come just days after he claimed his "authority is total" with regards to reopening US states from lockdowns, as US governors form their own regional plans for ending travel and socialization restrictions.

Reopening Guidelines Coming Soon

Guidelines on the reopening of several US states from COVID-19 safety lockdowns will come later this week, Trump announced.

The United States has “passed the peak on new cases," Trump said, noting that guidelines on opening some US states from their lockdowns would follow on Thursday.

A plan crafted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was leaked to the Washington Post earlier on Wednesday, showing the US government agencies are looking at reopening some parts of the country by May 1. The Trump administration's 30-day plan for social distancing "to slow the spread" of COVID-19 ends the day prior.

Dr. Deborah Birx, a member of Trump's coronavirus task force, noted how different the experience of the pandemic has been for various US states. While some states have seen an explosion of cases like the New York metropolitan area, others have seen few cases and some, like Washington state, never saw the characteristic "peak" in cases.

CDC Director Vows to Keep Working with WHO After Trump Bans Funding to Corrupt Globalist Organization

This is just stunning!

Last week the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, told an audience the “world was slow to react to the coronavirus.”

This was quite a statement coming from the man who downplayed the deadliness of this same virus back in January.

The World Health Organization in January announced they found “no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission” of the coronavirus.

This was a complete lie.

** We have much more on Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and his controversial past here.

As we have reported numerous times now… The controversial Ethiopian politician and Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, overstated the mortality rate of the coronavirus back in early March.

This egregiously false premise has led to the greatest economic panic in world history.

Dr. Tedros deceived the world and praised China’s efforts in fighting the coronavirus despite their continued lies to the global community.

On Tuesday President Trump blocked funding to the corrupt WHO.

Last week the controversial CDC Dirctor Robert Redfield told liberal reporters he would not treat coronavirus patients with the life-saving drug hydroxychloroquine.

On Wednesday Dr. Redfield refused to condemn the WHO and promised to continue to work with the international group.

Business Insider reported:

Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), on Wednesday said his agency will continue to work with the World Health Organization (WHO) despite President Donald Trump’s plans to cut funding.

Redfield told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that the CDC and WHO have a “long history of working together,” and that would continue moving forward.

“I’d like to do the postmortem on this outbreak once we get through it together,” the CDC chief added.

Dr. Redfield would not condemn the WHO for their many errors and defense of the Chinese Communist regime.

Trump Says White House Will Release 'Guidelines' For Reopening Economy Tomorrow

Update (1750ET): Starting 20 minutes late, the first thing President Trump did during tonight's press conference was to announce another press conference to be held tomorrow afternoon to unveil "guidelines" about reopening the economy.

He then went on to tout a new partnership to deliver the antibody tests that Cuomo talked about earlier - promising 20 million in the next few weeks. He also said that more than 3.3 million Americans have already been tested for the virus.

Trump then shared another video montage that was basically an advertisement for General Motors.

"I know you get nervous when you saw we had a clip to play but that was from General Motors…they're making ventilators and cranking them out of the factory at a rate you wouldn't believe."

Update (1705ET): As we wait for the meeting to begin, we'd like to highlight this Bloomberg report from earlier claiming that the president has abandoned the idea of forming a second task force to focus on reopening the economy - a trial balloon that elicited a pretty tepid response from both insiders and the public - and has instead held a "marathon" series of calls with business leaders on Wednesday.

As the outbreak shows signs of plateauing in the country, corporate executives are being asked to advise Trump on how to resume something approaching normal business and social life. Trump was scheduled to speak with more than 200 leaders from nearly every corner of the U.S. economy in four calls.

Several of the companies and other participants said they found out they were invited only after Trump announced their names in a Rose Garden news conference on Tuesday or from a subsequent White House statement. They said they didn’t know the format or the purpose of the calls, and some expressed doubt the exercise would be productive.

The calls began Wednesday morning in Washington. The White House said the discussions would include chief executive officers of some of the country’s largest and most prominent companies, including Tim Cook of Apple Inc., Doug McMillon of Walmart Inc. and Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan Chase & Co.

We suspect we'll be hearing more about the contents of these calls tonight. Oh and btw…

…the briefing's once again been postponed.

Wednesday night's press briefing is slated to begin at 5pmET, but when the show will actually start is anybody's guess.

US Mint Halts All Production Over Virus Fears As Gold & Silver Coin Demand Nears Record Highs

Just as the premium between physical and paper precious metals prices was starting to fade a little, the US Mint has decided to temporally halt all production at its West Point facility in New York because of the risk to employees from COVID-19.
