Allen Harim Foods, a Delaware-based chicken company, is reportedly being forced to kill up to 2 million chickens before they can be slaughtered and packaged for consumers.

In a letter received by the company’s livestock growers, Allen Harim said the chickens were being “depopulated” due to coronavirus-related staffing shortages at its processing plant, which is making it impossible to “harvest the amount of birds” they were previously able to handle.

The news comes as other experts in the meat industry warned of possible and “severe” repercussions for the nation’s food supply chain in the wake of several processing-plant closures related to COVID-19.

In the letter, which one Delaware grower confirmed to be legitimate to the Delaware News Journal, Allen Harim explained that only about 50 percent of its staff was still reporting for work as of April 8. The company had also begun to supply its growers with fewer eggs and chicks as soon as attendance at its processing plant started to dwindle.

Massie also predicted the bailout was going to be a giant screwjob and was of the only congressmen to stand against it.

American intelligence passed an early warning about the coronavirus to Tel Aviv and NATO as far back as November, Israel’s Channel 12 claims, even after a top US medical intel officer dismissed a similar report just last week.

The broadcaster aired a story on Thursday alleging that the US intelligence community shared classified information about a new viral outbreak in China with the Israeli military and senior NATO officials. With nobody willing to go on record to confirm the report, however, the story is based on murky anonymous sourcing, leaving it a mystery where the claim originated.

“Still in November, the IDF held a first discussion regarding what impact this unknown disease would have were it to reach the Middle East. How would we be affected? How would it affect our neighbors?” the Channel 12 broadcast said, as cited by i24 News.

A similar report from ABC last week stated that the Pentagon’s National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI) warned that an outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan could become a “cataclysmic event” in a document compiled last November. But the story was swiftly shot down by NCMI director Colonel R. Shane Day, who insisted “No such NCMI product exists” and that the report was simply “not correct.”

President Donald Trump – who was said to have been alerted to the alleged NCMI document but chose not to act on the intelligence – ran a victory lap over ABC after Day’s denial, gloating in a tweet that the news outlet “knew they were wrong when they went with this Hoax of a story!”

Much like the ABC report, the Channel 12 story alleges the US government was provided the information, yet “did not deem it of interest,” also stating Israeli health officials were made aware, but still “nothing was done” to prepare for the impending pandemic.

With a series of mostly anonymous claims and denials from dueling intelligence sources, as well as purported classified documents nobody in the public has actually laid eyes on, it remains unclear exactly when the American intel community caught wind of China’s epidemic.

He said the country needs to decide whether the way forward is capitalism or socialism, because as it stands right now, business are benefiting during the good times and then enjoying a safety net during the bad, much like what happened during the financial crisis.

“Let’s not have capitalism on the way up and then when we hit a crisis we have the worst type of socialism, we have cronyism,” Galloway said, pointing out that, going forward, companies using most of their bailout money for stock buybacks should be allowed to fail.

His thoughts echo those of billionaire Mark Cuban, who said last month that he’s “so tired of the rich profiting from every cataclysm” and that federal incentives should be shared with all workers.

“If we are going to bail out companies, we need to make sure all employees benefit from a turnaround, not just execs,” Cuban said. “This would be a step toward income equality.”

Galloway also took aim at companies like Amazon AMZN, +4.35% , Walmart WMT, +2.77% and Uber UBER, -1.38% as examples of how the U.S. economy is basically divided into three groups: shareholders, consumers and workers — the first two benefit, while the last struggles.

And many of these “essential” workers are getting overlooked during the current crisis, he said.

“Every night at 7:00 we’re leaning outside our balconies and applauding and honoring our health-care workers, and we should because they’re saving lives,” Galloway explained. “But we don’t go outside our windows and honor the people working in grocery stores or the transit workers, 41 of whom have died in New York state, making sure we have basic infrastructure.”

That’s because swine flu muscles aside seasonal flu, acting as a sort of inoculation against the far deadlier strain.

Media Hypes Unproven, Expensive Gilead Drug Remdesivir After Trashing Chloroquine

STAT News on Thursday released an "early peak" at some data from Gilead trial showing results that were described as "encouraging."

The University of Chicago Medicine recruited 125 people with Covid-19 into Gilead's two Phase 3 clinical trials. Of those people, 113 had severe disease. All the patients have been treated with daily infusions of remdesivir.

"The best news is that most of our patients have already been discharged, which is great. We've only had two patients perish," said Kathleen Mullane, the University of Chicago infectious disease specialist overseeing the remdesivir studies for the hospital.

The news certainly sounds promising, much like a lot of the news coming from doctors who have been treating patients with hydroxychloroquine and I hope they succeed.

Amazon donates $300,000 to supply Israel with medical equipment

Global ecommerce company Amazon has donated $300,000 to a non-profit US organisation which is supplying medical equipment to healthcare professionals and patients in Israel during the coronavirus pandemic.

The donation by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will be made through the Israel Healthcare Foundation, an independent US-based non-profit that seeks to improve healthcare for Israeli citizens, reported the Times of Israel.

The funds will be used to purchase masks, support systems to increase the flow of blood in the patient’s body and other equipment to save the lives of coronavirus patients, the US firm said in a statement.

CEO of Clalit, the largest of Israel’s four state-mandated health service organisations, Professor Ehud Davidson, said in a statement: “We are experiencing challenging times, like never before. We are working around the clock to treat COVID-19 patients, to protect our medical teams, and fight this virus. Amazon’s support at this critical time will help us to continue our lifesaving work.”

Earlier this year, the online retailer was accused of favouring illegal Jewish settlers in the occupied Palestinian territories over the indigenous Palestinian population, after Amazon said it would make shipping free for Palestinians if they list their country as Israel.

Palestine’s Economy Ministry threatened to sue the company for conducting business in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and called on it to immediately stop this blatant discriminatory delivery policy.

Israel sees sharp increase in coronavirus testing, inks deal with Chinese firm

Health Ministry reports record 11,908 tests Thursday; agreement with BGI to supply material will boost ability to test for virus to some 20,000 per day

The Health Ministry announced Friday that it had conducted a record 11,908 coronavirus tests the previous day, in a sharp increase from the past several days, which saw the figure fall to between 6,000-7,000.

Increased testing is seen as vital to being able to slowly reopen the economy and ease social distancing restrictions on the population.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has set a goal of 30,000 tests a day, but a shortage of a key reagent meant that Israel had struggled to approach 10,000.

Efforts to hit the target also received a further boost with the Foreign Ministry saying it had signed a deal with Chinese company BGI that will see the firm send lab equipment to Israel by the end of next week, allowing for conducting some 12,000 tests per day.

Once established, the BGI equipment will expand the scope to perform as many as 20,000 tests per day, the ministry said, adding that tests will be performed in Israel by Israeli companies selected by the Health Ministry.

Trump appears to back those protesting social distancing measures

President Trump on Friday appeared to back protesters in three states with Democratic governors who are gathering in opposition to extended stay-at-home orders and other restrictions meant to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

One day after Trump reportedly told governors they would "call the shots" in determining when to lift social distancing guidelines in their states, Trump heightened tensions between demonstrators and the Democratic governors in Minnesota, Michigan and Virginia.

"LIBERATE MINNESOTA!" Trump tweeted, followed quickly by a call to "LIBERATE MICHIGAN!"

"LIBERATE VIRGINIA, and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!" Trump tweeted, a reference to the state's expanded background checks and limits on gun purchases signed into law last week.

All three states are broadly seen as swing contests in the 2020 presidential election. Trump won Michigan in 2016 in an upset and has hopes of taking Minnesota, though it has been decades since that state voted for a Republican as president. Trump will also be an underdog in the presidential race in Virginia.

The tweets come amid a growing trend of protesters gathering at state capitols to express displeasure with governors who have imposed stringent measures to close nonessential businesses and urge residents to remain in their homes amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of people gathered in Michigan on Thursday to protest Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's (D) extension of a stay-at-home order, with many donning Trump apparel or waving flags with the president's name. Whitmer has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential candidate for Democrats.

A smaller protest took place in Richmond to oppose Gov. Ralph Northam's (D) order, which is in place until early June.

A group calling itself "Liberate Minnesota" was set to protest outside Gov. Tim Walz's residence on Friday, according to local reports.

More protests are expected in the coming days in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Idaho and elsewhere. State officials and public health experts warn that the large gatherings could inadvertently lead to further spread of the coronavirus, extending the need to impose stay-at-home orders and other measures.

Trump on Thursday touted new guidelines from the White House that remain conservative in terms of loosening social distance guidelines. There are fears that relaxing the orders too quickly could cause a surge in infections, though the practices have also contributed to a crumbling economy.

But Trump's rhetoric has been much more mixed on the issue, and he frequently talks about his aspirations for states to open up their economies by relaxing the guidelines more quickly.

On Thursday, when asked about the protests, Trump said he agreed with most governors.

"I think they listen to me," Trump said Thursday when asked about the protests. "They seem to be protesters that like me and respect this opinion. And my opinion is the same as just about all of the governors."

The guidelines offered by Trump include a three-phase process that could take several weeks or even months. The guidelines make clear that it is up to governors to decide when to loosen restrictions.

The tweets mark the latest example of Trump trying to shift attention to governors for their role in combating the pandemic, which has killed more than 33,000 people in the U.S. as of Friday morning, according to Johns Hopkins.

Texas Governor: Retail Stores Reopening, Restaurants Could Reopen Soon

All retail stores in Texas will be able to reopen on April 24, while restaurants and movie theaters could reopen by the end of the month, Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Friday.

Retailers that have remained open during the COVID-19 pandemic have largely operated through delivery or having customers place orders and then pick them up while having little or no contact with employees.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, while the Maghawir al-Thawra members were moving to surrender, they were attacked by US-controlled forces and lost 3 vehicles.

Oleg Zhuravlev, chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria said militants confessed that “they had been trained by US instructors to commit acts of sabotage at the oil-and-gas and transport infrastructure facilities, as well as to organize terror attacks on territories controlled by Syrian government forces.”

Later on the same day, Russian and Turkish forces conducted a 4th joint patrol along the M4 highway in southeastern Idlib. As on the previous occasions, the patrol took place along a short chunk of the highway west of Saraqib. The rest of the safe zone area agreed by Russian and Turkish leaders on March 5 in Moscow remains in the hands of radical militant groups.

In an official statement released on April 14, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham announced that it had formed 3 new units: the Talhah ibn Ubaydullah Brigade, led by Abu Hafs Binnish, the Ali ibn Abi Talib Brigade, led by Abu Baker Mheen and the Zubayr ibn al-Awam Brigade, led by Abu Mohamad Shura. The group provided no insight into the number of fighters in the new units or their tasks, but the estimated number of the new force is about 1,500.

Last month, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham launched a large recruitment campaign to revive its depleted special forces, the “Red Bands,” as well as its Inghimasi [suicide bombers] force.

Despite the fact that militants profit from the ceasefire regime with direct military protection from Turkey and are using the gained time to re-arm their units and train new fighters, they see any kind of Turkish cooperation with Russia as a direct threat to their interests. In some cases, this even leads to acts of aggression and threats against their sponsor’s forces.

For example, in a video which recently appeared online, members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham were threatening to behead Turkish soldiers moving along the M4 highway and pin their heads to the top of the nearby earth barrier. This is the real face of the so-called moderate opposition that Ankara supports in Greater Idlib.

On April 15, an airstrike targeted an SUV in the town of Jdaidit Yabws right on the border with Lebanon. The vehicle allegedly belonged to Hezbollah, which has become the target of Israeli missiles. The first one missed allowing the passengers to exit the vehicle a few moments before it was hit by the second missile.

The UAE-based Sky News Arabia and al-Arabiya claimed that high-ranking commanders of Hezbollah were the target of the Israeli strike.

Turkish-Backed Militants Used Children In ISIS-Style Suicide Attack On SDF

Turkish-backed militants have used children suicide bombers in an attack on the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northern Raqqa countryside, the Hawar News Agency (ANHA) revealed on April 16.

According to the Kurdish-Syrian agency, two children entered the SDF-held town of al-Kaltah on April 14 coming from the Turkish-occupied part of northern Raqqa. Both children were disguised as shepherds. After entering the town, one of the children blew himself up, injuring the other.

“After examining the remains of the child, it was found that he was wearing an explosive belt, which exploded,” the ANHA’s report read.

The child was identified as 15-year old Ali Emo al-Abd, a Homs native who was allegedly recruited by Turkish-backed militants. The militants forced the child to wear the explosive belt and sent him to target an SDF gathering in al-Kaltah. However, the belt prematurely exploded.

Earlier this week, al-Quds al-Arabi revealed that former ISIS commanders met in northern Raqqa to form a new faction. Activists told the London-based newspaper that the terrorists will likely plot attacks against the SDF with support from Turkey.

The attack in al-Kaltah was likely plotted by radical militants within Turkey’s proxies in northeastern Syria. Ankara is doing very little to limit the influence of radicals.

Money Losing Value In COVID-19 Crisis

Money can no more buy safety.

On April 17, Russia recorded 32,008 coronavirus cases, including a record 4,070 in the last 24 hours, as President Vladimir Putin warned of “very high” risks, particularly in some regions of the county.

“The risks surrounding the epidemic’s spread are still very high, not just in Moscow but in many other Russian regions,” Putin said during a televised video-conference with regional governors.

According to the president, the regions fail to adopt all the funds allocated by the government in the framework of the special programs to support the medical infrastructure, citizens and businesses amid the COVID-19 crisis.

In late March, the federal government allocated 33.4 billion rubles to increase the number of places in hospitals as part of the fight against coronavirus. Also in early April, the Cabinet of Ministers distributed 5.1 billion rubles among regions for payments to health workers. Later for the same purpose, the authorities sent another 45.6 billion rubles. On April 15, Putin proposed transferring additional assistance of 200 billion rubles to the regions.

In particular, Vladimir Oblast (Region) governor Vladimir Sipyagin said his region of 1.36 million only has 71 ventilators and half the needed resuscitation experts. The region also lacks personal protective equipment for doctors, and there are difficulties with the purchase of suits, glasses, respirators and medical equipment, Sipyagin added. According to him, the hydroxychlorin, which the authorities allowed to use in COVID-19 cases, Vladimir Oblast receives only 50 people.

Putin responded that governors’ commenting on the situation that they “are sitting there in order to overcome challenges”.

At the same time, the situation in Russia’s regions demonstrates that in the conditions of the global crisis the allocating of large sums of money is not enough to settle appearing difficulties and crisis tendencies. The important role is being played by the political will of the federal government as well as the provided administrative and organizational support in the task of using the provided amounts.

Earlier, the similar problem appeared in the United States, where different states were openly competing for medical equipment and other key features needed to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.

The New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, spoke out against the current bidding wars over ventilators, as each of the 50 US states and the Federal Emergency Management Agency were purchasing essential equipment separately:

The United States federal government allocates even larger sums than the Russian one to contain the COVID-19 outbreak and the economic consequences of the lockdown. However, this also appears to be not enough. The unemployment rate in the US reached the new peak with over 22 million U.S. citizens lost their jobs in the last four weeks.

Additional factors that contribute to the current situation is the decision of many countries to de-facto close their borders and the regionalization of the global economy. This leads to the creation of separate economic clusters, the slowing down of global trade and the destruction (at least changes in) of the existing economic relations.

If one takes into account the fact that the mechanisms of international control mostly do not work in the current situation, he will easily find out that the outflow of investments, the instability of financial markets and currencies also contribute to the inability of the governments to react properly to the challenges appearing in the crisis times.

The global financial system is crumbling. In the conditions of the global crisis, countries that relied on the ‘post-industrial’ (or even ‘non-industrial’) concept of the economy (relying on the selling of financial, informational, tourism and other services, as well as directly selling natural resources) appear to be less stable than their counterparts that kept the industrial potential.

The dominance on the financial market is no more the only and key resource allowing to keep the global leadership. The world has changed.

Trudeau govt funds China biolab linked to origin of pandemic almost $1M for coronavirus research

The grant, linked to the University of Alberta, will help 'team members' at the Wuhan Institute of Virology to perform tests

Canada’s Liberal government under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has given close to $1 million of taxpayer money to help fund “research” for new COVID-19 “screening and diagnosis” tools at the Chinese lab where the virus is suspected to have originated.

The funds were granted to a researcher from the University of Alberta, who received $828,046 from the Government of Canada’s $27 million coronavirus research fund, Rebel News first reported. This fund was announced in February and was set up to “contribute to global efforts to address the 2019 Novel Coronavirus outbreak.”

The government website specific to the research fund shows that the grant money went to Xiaochun C Le, to address the pressing need of “rapid point-of-care diagnostics of COVID-19.”

“The collaborative research is conducted by a multi-disciplinary team of virologists, chemists, infectious disease specialists, front-line practitioners, and public health researchers from the University of Alberta, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and Wuhan Institute of Virology (China),” says the note about the grant.

“Our team members in Wuhan who currently perform the standard diagnostic tests will lead this effort,” the note adds.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology is China’s only level four biosafety lab. A paper authored by two Chinese scientists, Botao Xiao and Lei Xiao — both from the state-run South China University of Technology — traces how they think the virus escaped a Wuhan biolab which was researching Horseshoe bats. Their February 2020 paper, titled “The Possible Origins of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus,” has since disappeared from the international scholarly database Research Gate, but is still available through the Wayback Machine and is available on LifeSiteNews here.

According to a report by the Washington Post, U.S. Embassy officials in China warned their government two years ago that a research facility in Wuhan did not have proper safety measures in place.

The lax security measures were reported to be evident while researchers were “conducting risky studies on coronaviruses from bats.”

An Associated Press report said that doctors in the Wuhan area voiced concern after a large banquet to celebrate the Lunar New Year was held in January. This event was held only six days after Chinese officials realized they were facing a serious pandemic.

China’s delay in notifying its citizens and the world at large regarding the severity of the coronavirus “is tremendous,” according to an epidemiologist at the University of California.

“If they took action six days earlier, there would have been much fewer patients and medical facilities would have been sufficient. We might have avoided the collapse of Wuhan’s medical system,” said Zuo-Feng Zhang in the Associated Press report.

Michigan judge authorizes arresting people on suspicion of COVID-19 illness

Michigan has already become a national lightning rod for the extent of its COVID-19 response measures, and now a judge has empowered police in one county to go even further by detaining people for simple suspicion that they’ve come down with the virus.

First highlighted by radio host Steve Gruber, Kent County Chief Circuit Judge Mark Trusock’s April 6 order declares that any citizen deemed to be a "carrier and health threat" can be “involuntarily detained by a peace officer, transported to and detained in an Involuntary Isolation Facility selected by the Health Officer for observation, testing, and/or treatment."

The individual could then be held for at least three days to confirm he or she is “without a fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 72 consecutive hours (without use of fever reducing medication) and/or is otherwise non-symptomatic and meets the CDC criteria for release from isolation."

According to the Great Lakes Justice Center, Trusock based the order on state law that authorizes the confinement of individuals who a “court has reasonable cause to believe” is a public health threat. But whereas that law requires a court to assess specific cases before making an arrest, Trusock gave police and health officials blanket permission to decide who may be a threat.

That, they say, violates plain language in both the U.S. and Michigan constitutions prohibiting arrest warrants for anything short of “probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation.”

“Seems the judge may have a fever because he is not thinking clearly,” Gruber said. “You cannot transfer or delegate decision making and due process obligations to anyone that wanders by just because you think it’s a good idea.”

Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has made Michigan infamous for the scope of the restrictions she has imposed, from ordering grocery stores to stop selling plants and seeds to prohibiting travel between two private residences owned by the same individual. Her lockdown provoked a protest at the state capitol drawing thousands of angry Michiganders, and two federal lawsuits asserting violations of the Constitution.
