The farmer is referring to anhydrous ammonia, which is used as a fertilizer by drilling it into the soil before planting. If it isnt drilled into the soil, it will float off into the atmosphere.
It is also very volatile (will explode if not handled correctly) and is used in making meth by some "cookers"
