A while back there was a scandal when the Dalai Lama kicked out a monk and his followers. He accused them of worshipping a demon and engaging in canabalism and human sacrifice. A lot of Tibetans and Westerners were angry at him for reinforcing “stereotypes” pushed by China about Tibetan Buddhism but he wouldn’t budge.
