‘There is never an excuse not to share information’

Dr Deborah Birx attacks China over coronavirus during

Trump briefing

‘When you are the first country to have an outbreak you have

a moral obligation to the world,’ says top immunologist

"The coordinator of America’s coronavirus response has hit out at China for a lack of transparency in the early stages of the pandemic, while calling Beijing’s reported mortality rate “unrealistic”.

China was the first to be impacted by Covid-19 in November last year, leading to a mass shutdown of daily life and a vast medical response including the building of new hospitals and the drafting in of medical personnel from outside the epicentre of Wuhan, in Hubei province.

However, Dr Deborah Birx, who made her name as an immunologist in the fight against HIV, has said the true horrors of the disease were not explained to the US by China but by countries in Europe like France and Italy, in a forthright intervention that chimed with her boss’s rhetoric on how Beijing has handled coronavirus."

Foreign governments condemn Hong Kong protest arrests

By Scott Murdoch 5 hrs ago

"HONG KONG (Reuters) - Foreign governments criticized the arrest of 15 Hong Kong democracy activists in a police sweep on charges of organizing and participating in anti-government protests last year.

The arrests on Saturday were the biggest crackdown on the city's pro-democracy movement since the outbreak of mass protests last year.

The International Bar Association said the authorities should not encroach on human rights and the legal system must guard against any abuses of power when the world was preoccupied with the coronavirus pandemic.

"The United States condemns the arrest of pro-democracy advocates in Hong Kong," U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.

"Beijing and its representatives in Hong Kong continue to take actions inconsistent with commitments made under the Sino-British Joint Declaration that include transparency, the rule of law, and guarantees that Hong Kong will continue to 'enjoy a high degree of autonomy'," he said.

The arrested supporters of the pro-democracy movement included Democratic Party founder and barrister Martin Lee, 81, millionaire publishing tycoon Jimmy Lai, 71, and former lawmaker and barrister Margaret Ng, 72."

Sen. Graham blasts Pelosi: 'She hates Trump to the point

of hurting our own nation'

By Victor Garcia | Fox News

Published 3 hours ago

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's criticism of President Trump over his halting of funding to the World Health Organization goes beyond just a personal attack, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Saturday night.

"So her issue is she hates Trump to the point of hurting our own nation," Graham said on Fox News' "Justice with Judge Jeanine."

"She is condemning President Trump for cutting funds off of the WHO because they've been in China's pocket, as she at one time mentioned, the fact the virus came out of China, that the Chinese Communist Party lied to the American people and the world at large."

Pelosi blasted Trump’s decision to freeze funding for the WHO, vowing Wednesday to “swiftly” challenge the action amid the coronavirus crisis. In a statement, Pelosi, D-Calif., said the halt in funding amid the global pandemic was “senseless.”"
