Nothing about the annual flu (which is all COVID is) requires hundreds or even thousands of ventilators. Certainly a surge of them would not be required.

Whatever they are, they're obviously not, and never were, needed for COVID. So the question remains, why would we still be building something we don't need? The only remaining possibility is they are not medical ventilators, and whatever they are, are still needed.
