Hey fellow anons. Usually I lurk, but I need help connecting some dots or at least looking into them. Recently, there was a post on QRV that noted a bunch of weird habbenings in the astronomy community ("related to COVID"..sure). I wont address them all, but something is nagging at me.
Recall that Neptune's existence was inferred by observing the orbits of other planets and their gravitational forces before it was ever visually observed. That was 1846, way before supercomputing was even a dream. Now, there is a growing body of evidence that points to an existence of "Planet 9" in our solar system, and we have the computing power to explore even further.

"The story of Planet 9 began in earnest in early 2016, when astronomers Mike Brown and Konstantin Batygin published a paper called “Evidence for a Distant Giant Planet in the Solar System.” …
"In their 2016 paper, Batygin and Brown showed that there are groups of KBOs" (Kuiper Belt Objects, parentheses mine!) "whose orbits are shaped in such a way that only the presence of another planet can explain them: Planet 9. While the orbit of most KBOs show clear evidence of being shepherded by Neptune, a significant number of extremely distant KBOs don’t. Their orbits appear to be aligned at a distant point.
In that paper the authors address that discrepancy, saying, “We find that the observed orbital alignment can be maintained by a distant eccentric planet with mass greater than ~10 Earth masses, whose orbit lies in approximately the same plane as those of the distant Kuiper belt objects…”
An potentially undiscovered "object" with 10x Earth's mass? Holy shit! OK, so the evidence is gained from detecting these KBOs and inferring other larger objects. Here are some of these notable KBOS:
-
2012 VP 113 "Biden"
-
2015 TG 387 "Goblin"
-
2018 VG 18 "FarOut"
Remember Hussein's 2019 health insurance advertisement? Green Goblin anyone?

"Nathan Kaib of Trujillo University in Peru, and the University of Oklahoma, ran computer simulations to determine the cause of the TNOs. They simulated different hypothetical Planet 9 orbits to see how they would affect the Goblin’s orbit. Most simulations showed that the Goblin’s orbit would have been stable for the age of the Solar System. They also showed that Planet 9 would shepherd 2015 TG387’s through space, keeping its distance from Planet 9."
"This could explain why the other extremely distant objects in the Solar System have similar orbits, without ever coming close to Planet 9. The relationship between the Goblin and Planet 9 would be similar to the relationship between Pluto and the much-larger Neptune."

Food for thought, anons. Stay safe out there and keep up the good fight.
