I just had a cat cremated (FIV). Unless the crematorium was using a brand new oven, I know 1) the ashes I got were not all him and 2) I didn't get all of his ashes. I'm doing well if I even got weight for weight. I know this. It is a sad reality for which there is no way around.

I'm never going to open the box. I'm just going to honor his life by continuing to remember how much good he brought and how little he asked in return.

I lost three cats – dear friends, loving and gentle – in 4 weeks. There are questions I do not want to know the answer to.
