SEATTLE — Gov. Jay Inslee is expected to lay out a plan for recovery from the COVID-19 outbreak in Washington during a primetime address Tuesday.
Following the address, members of Inslee’s staff are expected to take questions from members of the media. Among those present will be the directors of the Department of Commerce, Department of Health and the head of the state’s COVID-19 response team.
Inslee’s address comes as pressure mounts to reopen the state economy and end the stay-at-home order. While Inslee has acknowledge the pressure, he said his order is not about politics and that crowd counts and speeches “won’t determine our course.”
Health officials said Washington has seen progress but there’s still uncertainty. The governor’s stay-at-home order ends in two weeks, and he said some restrictions may extend beyond that.
