I live in a very rural and poor area in NorCali.

A lot of the people here are on govt aide of some sort or another.

There's a thing called "commodoties", where once a month canned food and boxed food items are handed out to people on govt help. You can also sign up if you're a senior citizen.

I got some "commodoties" (sp?) this last month for the first time due to my situation (no income, no transportation to even get food).

I couldn't believe the type of food they gave out.

Off brand labels that you've never heard of.

All processed junk food. Processed cheese (like velvetta) but an off brand. Canned food in damaged/dented cans. All the food was GMO and non-organic. Nothing I could eat.
