That is basically letting the higher ups know when their day is coming. The same higher ups that might still be most capable of a counter.

If you wipe out the leader, the followers all lose power. I think that would be the cleanest way forward.

BTW, there are many strategies as to when to play the Trump card. It often depends on the other cards in your hand. But you often play the Trump card when you need to TRUMP the opponents biggest card.
