Upon arriving at 8ch, the operating board was /cbts/ (Calm Before The Storm).
The BO at the time, Baruch, was a dedicated-enough Anon, but he had an iron fist and wasn't afraid to use it.
Many Anons at the time had taken up namefagging and tripfagging, much to the chagrin of Baruch.
As such, he blacklisted any and all tripcodes and non-Anonymous names… including Q.
This prompted an exodus over the course of a few days to the next iteration of the board: /thestorm/
The BO of /thestorm/ was PamphletAnon - another Anon who quickly established a board in light of Baruch's dumbfuckery.
This move was largely met with apprehension owing to Pamphlet's affinity for famefaggotry.
A short while after Pamphlet made appearances on a podcast/livestream (name lost to me, sadly), Anons' apprehension was vindicated…
… to the point where Q point-blank said "We didn’t like what we saw." (Drop 517)
This prompted another mass exodus to the final 8ch iteration of the board: /qresearch/
/qr/ is the longest-lasting iteration of the effort.
The BO, 8bit, is a living legend.
Without going into excessive detail, /qr/ largely put 8ch on the map; ww knowledge of Q rapidly accelerated during its tenure.
Moreover, Q established satellite boards for his own (limited) posting, and several international breads started on /qr/ in late February/early March owing to Q posting outside the General.
In March/April 2019, 8bit stepped down as BO; Breadbox/FastJack took on the mantle of BO in his stead.
/qr/ continued to thrive until the infamous shutdown of 8ch in August 2019.
Here and now on 8kun, /qr/ is a continuation of the effort, still spearheaded by FJ.

Thank Christ FJ was given the keys at the end of the debacle; Pen had an iron fist heavier than Baruch's.
Apparently he also tried to vie for control post-8ch shutdown, along with the other BV's, and was summarily fired by FJ.
Presumably Pen is no longer in the picture: current board staff is FJ and two BV's.
