Maybe this is ha been suggested already, but I don't remember seeing it and i'm here all the time….A central theme of Godfather 3 was that Michael Corleone thought he could eventually rise above the corruption and become legit. To his great disillusionment he found that things only got worse the further up he went. This all culminates with the Vatican turning out to be utterly corrupt. We now know that P is the Pope and this is what I think the Godfather 3 reference was alluding to.
