Your perception is very similar to the essay 'Dance of Siva' by Ananda Coomaraswamy, the British-educated Tamil scholar who is famous for popularizing in the West the Nataraja version of Shiva that sits at WHO and CERN.
Ironic considering that you were bashing colonialists & scholars.

Among other things, Coomaraswamy was a contemporary and friend of Aleister Crowley's, whom (according to Crowley, so take with a grain of salt) let Crowley have an affair with his wife and impregnate her.

So, while Coomaraswamy and Crowley knew one another very well, they did not meet through Yeats or the Golden Dawn.
