Rick Bright is an administrator in a federal science agency, not an active scientist.
-
Bright stated that use of chloroquines to treat coronavirus “clearly lack scientific merit.” FALSE. The many scientific studies published on this show that chloroquines DO have scientific merit, just not unquestionable proof. Lack of proof beyond question does not mean they are not effective, and there is plenty of evidence that they might be, at least under some circumstances.
-
Bright stated "Specifically, and contrary to misguided directives, I limited the broad use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine." A directive is an order to be carried out. If you do not carry out the order, you are violating your position requirements and probably your job contract. This is grounds to terminate an administrator.

In an urgent situation, you cannot sit back with arms folded and demand perfect proof before taking action. Sometimes, you need to shoot from the hip before its too late.
These are plenty of reasons to support his ouster. He is not a whistleblower. He was obstructing progress due to a misunderstanding of how science works in emergency conditions.
