I think what he is saying is he had a great idea on how to eradicate hepatitis b, but because when other people were testing his idea a few people died due to non sterilized equipment so it was dropped. ( I think. My education was filled up with useless finance degrees so this is above my pay grade.)

It's a bit hard to listen to the whole interview without mega doses of caffeine so I would suggest starting the discussion about "direct electrons injection" and the possibility to eradicate viruses. Starts about 40 minutes in until the end at 56 minutes if you want to skip the first part.
