Dahum! You sound like ya been through it too. Never really pondered training duration as part of programming but makes perfect sense. Medicine isn’t that hard to understand (it ain’t rocket science). It shouldn’t rob those so inclined of the good years of youth. But it does.

Hospital empty
Non-essential staff furloughed.
Remaining executives 10% pay cut.
Completely dropping pediatric care because 70% is state payer funded, and the state don’t pay.
Lowest census I have ever seen (20 years).
Many hospitals will not weather this storm.
