Waiting on the FBI for Answers Into Philip Haney Investigation
April 17, 2020
The Amador County Sheriff's Office is waiting on forensic evidence results from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) before releasing findings to the public.
Philip Haney, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) whistleblower, who was an outspoken critic of the administration of former President Barack Obama, was found dead on Friday, February 21, 2020, in a park and ride open area adjacent to Highway 16 near Highway 124, less than three miles from where Haney was living. The FBI is assisting the ACSO in analyzing documents, phone records and a laptop recovered from Haney’s RV, as well as Haney’s vehicle and a firearm located at the scene.
ACSO officials confirmed that the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has completed a forensic autopsy and the toxicology but the results will only be released when the FBI has completed their forensic results.
“We will release the information when we have all the evidence back," said Undersheriff Gary Redman. "We have nothing to report as of now."
Martin Ryan, Amador County Sheriff/Coroner, stated that the investigation would be a long, but thorough process in an interview shortly after Haney’s body was discovered.
