A longtime Alabama lawmaker from Vestavia Hills, a health care CEO and a former chairman of the Alabama Republican Party were arrested on Monday on public corruption charges.
The arrests stem from the trio's involvement with a legislative bill in 2016 focused on insurance coverage of medical treatments.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A Maryland state senator facing federal bribery and obstruction of justice charges submitted a resignation letter Wednesday night.
Sen. Nathaniel Oaks met Wednesday evening with Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller. Jake Weissmann, a Miller spokesman, said Oaks gave the Senate president a letter stating he was resigning effective 9 a.m. Thursday.

Potus declined opening new US Embassy in London
Donald Trump has cancelled a planned visit to the UK in February, where he had been expected to open a new $1bn (ÂŁ738m) US embassy in London.
The US president tweeted he was not a "big fan" of the new embassy - which is moving from Mayfair to south London.
He blamed Barack Obama's administration for a "bad deal" despite the fact the move was agreed under George W Bush.
The trip was not the controversial full state visit offered by Theresa May, for which no date has yet been set.
