"Going to the grocery store and other public places where social distancing is difficult will require a mask starting next week in Delaware.

Governor John Carney made his thirteenth modification to his State of Emergency, Saturday, April 25, 2020. It requires all Delawareans, ages 13 and older, to wear face coverings in public settings, including grocery stores, pharmacies, convenience stores, doctor's offices, and on public transit, beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.

Delawareans 12 and younger are not required to wear a face covering. Any child 2-years-old younger should not wear a face covering because public health officials said they risk suffocation.

Under Governor Carney's modified order, businesses must also take certain steps to keep their employees and customers safe.

Governor Carney's State of Emergency has the full force and effect of law. The stay-at-home order, and mandatory quarantine for out-of-state travelers, remain in place. Violations of the emergency order, or any of its modifications, constitute a criminal offense."
