The distortion is caused by a low resolution LIDAR map. That is why the TOPO looks funny. The Tennis court is placed on a mound of fill from the tunnel digging, but it is flat with high mound wall around it.
The LIDAR resolution will be much greater in a major city like Atlanta, but much lower in remote areas where the data is not as important. The LIDAR mesh will just fill in the difference, and fill the gaps.
Check the cliffs of the island and see how they are not even close to the pictures we have.
To be clear. The Court is on a mound, but the court is flat.
The measurement are pretty darn good, but you can find issues when you measure the same points with past google photos.
