Someone in either: A.) the band B.) their record company or C.) the video producer, "knew," and was trying to either warn people, or tell you exactly what and who they were. It's also possible they were just poking fun at people who though they "knew" something about the music business. I was a working musician back then, don't recall there being much chatter about the "reality" behind the music business. Perhaps in Christian circles.
