I think people get overwhelmed by the prospect of having to take responsibility for informing themselves on things that the majority just accepts as normal. Especially parents who have already made the decision to go along with circumcising and vaccinating their kids, they've already accepted the authority of medical "experts" over their own offspring's physical autonomy. Breaking through the mental barriers they put up to preserve their own sense of justification and self-righteousness is extremely challenging for them, and they short circuit almost immediately when pressed on any topic that would implicate them in being guilty of harming another, especially their own child. And for TDS liberals, the prospect of recognizing a conservative's worldviews as valid is tantamount to admitting all the focus they've put into virtue signalling and fortifying their "progressive" group-think ethos might have been a misdirected use of their life's energy.
