Federal Health Officials Investigating Wuhan Lab Suspected of Leaking Coronavirus, Taxpayer Grants to Lab

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has informed a company that used a taxpayer grant to provide U.S. tax dollars to the Wuhan lab in China–from which some authorities believe the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic emanated–that the Wuhan lab is formally being investigated by U.S. officials.

A letter from Dr. Michael Lauer, the NIH’s deputy director for extramural research, to Kevin Olival of EcoHealth Alliance and Naomi Schrag of Columbia University, obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, informs them the matter is under investigation.

“EcoHealth Alliance, Inc. is the recipient, as grantee, of an NIH grant entitled ‘Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergency,’” Lauer wrote in the letter, dated April 19. “It is our understanding that one of the sub-recipients of the grant funds is the Wuhan Institute of Virology (‘WIV’). It is our understanding that WIV studies the interaction between corona viruses and bats. The scientific community believes that the coronavirus causing COVID-19 jumped from bats to humans likely in Wuhan where the COVID-19 pandemic began. There are now allegations that the current crisis was precipitated by the release from WIV of the coronavirus responsible for COVID-19. Given these concerns, we are pursuing suspension of WIV from participation in Federal programs.”

The letter continues in the next paragraph by further explaining the investigation.

“While we review these allegations during the period of suspension, you are instructed to cease providing any funds from the above noted grant to the WIV,” Lauer continues. “This temporary action is authorized by 45 C.F.R. § 75.371 (d) (‘Initiate suspension or debarment proceedings as authorized under 2 C.F.R. part 180’). The incorporated OMB provision provides that the federal funding agency, through suspension, immediately and temporarily exclude from Federal programs persons who are not presently responsible where ‘immediate action is necessary to protect the public interest.’ 2 C.F.R. § 180.700 (c).”

In the next paragraph, the NIH official confirms this is under investigation formally. “It is in the public interest that NIH ensure that a sub-recipient has taken all appropriate precautions to prevent the release of pathogens that it is studying,” Lauer wrote. “This suspension of the sub-recipient does not affect the remainder of your grant assuming that no grant funds are provided to WIV following receipt of this email during the period of suspension.”

This letter has not been publicly revealed until his report here in Breitbart News. An NIH spokesman told Breitbart News about this letter: “NIH does not discuss details of the decision making process regarding specific grant awards.”

WHO Mysteriously Deletes Tweet About Reinfection As 'Immunity Passports' Being Debated

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Sunday deleted an alarming tweet for unknown reasons suggesting COVID-19 infected persons could catch the disease a second time.

The tweet was live long enough to be picked up in the media — some of which reported the information as "misleading" — before its quiet deletion later in the day.

The tweet garnered well over ten thousand retweets and tens of thousands of "likes" before it disappeared.

Sean Hannity threatens to sue the New York Times if they don't apologize and retract coronavirus story

The story ties a coronavirus victim to statements made on Hannity's show

Fox News host Sean Hannity threatened to sue the New York Times over a coronavirus story unless they retracted and apologized for including him.

In a letter from Hannity's lawyer to the New York Times, his lawyer demands they retract a story that connected Hannity's statements about the coronavirus to a man who later died from the disease.

The letter accused the Times of "blatant and outrageous disregard for the truth in mischaracterizing Mr. Hannity's coverage of the coronavirus pandemic and blaming him for the tragic death of Joe Joyce."

The Joyce story was published on April 18 and detailed how the family of Joyce said that he was a Fox News viewer and believed the virus was a hoax intended to damage President Donald Trump.

The letter continues on to explain that although Joyce took off on his cruise on March 1, the comments that Hannity made and supposedly influenced Joyce were made more than a week later on March 9.

"Moreover, you were fully aware that this was the actual timeline, and in order to mislead your readers and support your false narrative, you withheld the date of Mr. Hannity's comments from your story," the latter claimed.

"We demand that you promptly remove the foregoing false and defamatory statements from the Stories and any subsequent republications in print or any other medium, and publish a full, fair and conspicuous retraction, correction and apology as to each of the false and defamatory statements identified above," the latter added.

This is a power grab we haven’t seen since 9/11

Thousands of years ago in 458 BC, Lucius Quintius Cincinnatus was hard at work behind his plow on the family farm when a group of Roman Senators showed up with urgent news.

A foreign enemy called the Acqui had vanquished one of Rome’s armies and was rapidly approaching the city. The Republic was in deep trouble.

Cincinnatus was a former consul and renowned military leader, so in their panic, the Roman Senate unanimously appointed him as an emergency dictator.

All of Rome’s individual freedoms were immediately suspended. Checks and balances were eliminated. Cincinnatus would have supreme power to do whatever he saw fit during Rome’s time of crisis.

According to ancient Roman historians, Cincinnatus told his wife, “Go and fetch my toga,” and he immediately went to work.

Cincinnatus was legendary: he mobilized a new army, repelled the foreign invaders, and saved the city from certain destruction, all within just 15 days.

But even more importantly, Cincinnatus relinquished all of his power immediately after the victory, and returned to his plow. It was a display of virtue and selflessness that Romans celebrated for centuries.

Most dictators, of course, are not so principled.

The ancient Greeks (despite having invented democracy) routinely appointed dictators during times of national emergency.

Very few relinquished power willingly, and several– like Dionysius of Syracuse, Nabis of Sparta, Peisistratus, etc.– ruled for decades.

They always found a way to extend the emergency and hang on to power. And eventually, the people simply became accustomed to their new reality.

This is still true of human nature today.

When I was a kid in the 1980s, my father used to go on business trips from time to time, and my mother would usually take my sister and I to the airport to pick him up.

Many of you are old enough to remember this– back then, visitors used to be able to go directly to the gate, i.e. we would go through security and sit at the gate waiting for my dad as he walked off the plane.

Obviously you can’t do that anymore.

After a series of terrorist incidents in the late 1990s, followed by 9/11 a few years later, the government put its boot to the throat of airport security.

Today we stand in line for a dose of radiation while being barked at and occasionally fondled by federal employees.

If you think about 9/11 in particular, its remarkable how much power the government grabbed, and how many freedoms they took away. Two decades later, it’s clear those freedoms are never coming back.

I’m not just talking about visitors being able to go directly to the gate at the airport. That’s a tiny example.

The wider impact of 9/11 can be seen everywhere.

Dozens of minor victims who were being actively abused by site users rescued

WASHINGTON – Jong Woo Son, 23, a South Korean national, was indicted by a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia for his operation of Welcome To Video, the largest child sexual exploitation market by volume of content. The nine-count indictment was unsealed today along with a parallel civil forfeiture action.

Son has also been charged and convicted in South Korea and is currently in custody serving his sentence in South Korea. An additional 337 site users residing in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington State and Washington, D.C. as well as the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Czech Republic, Canada, Ireland, Spain, Brazil and Australia have been arrested and charged.

Acting Executive Associate Director Alysa Erichs of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Liu for the District of Columbia, and Chief Don Fort of IRS Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) made the announcement.

“Children are our most vulnerable population, and crimes such as these are unthinkable,” said HSI Acting Executive Associate Director Alysa Erichs. “Sadly, advances in technology have enabled child predators to hide behind the dark web and cryptocurrency to further their criminal activity. However, today’s indictment sends a strong message to criminals that no matter how sophisticated the technology or how widespread the network, child exploitation will not be tolerated in the United States. Our entire justice system will stop at nothing to prevent these heinous crimes, safeguard our children, and bring justice to all.”

“Darknet sites that profit from the sexual exploitation of children are among the most vile and reprehensible forms of criminal behavior,” said Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “This Administration will not allow child predators to use lawless online spaces as a shield. Today’s announcement demonstrates that the Department of Justice remains firmly committed to working closely with our partners in South Korea and around the world to rescue child victims and bring to justice the perpetrators of these abhorrent crimes.”

“Children around the world are safer because of the actions taken by U.S. and foreign law enforcement to prosecute this case and recover funds for victims,” said U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Liu. “We will continue to pursue such criminals on and off the darknet in the United States and abroad, to ensure they receive the punishment their terrible crimes deserve.”

“Through the sophisticated tracing of bitcoin transactions, IRS-CI special agents were able to determine the location of the Darknet server, identify the administrator of the website and ultimately track down the website server’s physical location in South Korea,” said IRS-CI Chief Don Fort. “This largescale criminal enterprise that endangered the safety of children around the world is no more. Regardless of the illicit scheme, and whether the proceeds are virtual or tangible, we will continue to work with our federal and international partners to track down these disgusting organizations and bring them to justice.”

Man And Woman Charged With Production Of Child Porn

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that James Oliver Young, 51, of Rochester, NY, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and production of child pornography. The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, and a maximum of life. In addition, Rebecca Wilson, 30, also of Rochester, NY, was also charged with production of child pornography in a separate complaint. Wilson faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa M. Marangola, who is handling the case, stated that the according to the complaints filed against Young and Wilson, on April 17, 2020, the New York State Police received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that an “Ollie Young” was communicating with a 10-year-old female, Minor Victim (MV1), in Rochester through private messages on Facebook. It appeared that “Ollie Young” was attempting to entice MV1 to produce and send apparent child exploitation images as well as engage in sexual activity. “Ollie Young” was later identified as defendant Young. Subsequent investigation determined that Young and Wilson allegedly had sexual relations with MV1 on multiple occasions.

On April 18, 2020, New York State Police executed a search warrant and seized multiple devices, including two cell phones belonging to Wilson. Investigators located multiple videos depicting child pornography involving a five-year-old boy, Minor Victim 2 (MV2).

The defendants made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark W. Pedersen and are being detained.

The complaints are the result of an investigation by the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Eric Laughton, and Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Gary Loeffert.

Serial Rapist Cop Found with ‘Hundreds of Thousands of Images’ of Victims on His Phone

Urbana, IL — In December, University of Illinois police officer Jerald “Jerry” Sandage, was arrested and charged with official misconduct for allegedly using police resources to look up personal information on women, while both on and off duty. He was let out shortly after and now finds himself back in the same Piatt County jail after being arrested again — this time for the rape of multiple women, who were all unconscious at the time of their rapes.

Sandage is accused of disgusting acts of rape on unwilling and unconscious victims. Illustrating the extremely depraved nature of his acts is the fact that the victims never knew they had been raped until seeing the photos of it. One of the victims found out from Sandage himself after he showed her the photos and videos of him raping her and then blackmailed her for more sex by threatening to expose an extramarital affair.

Because Sandage was a cop, he has managed to escape accountability for his actions for years. In fact, some of the charges Sandage is currently facing stem from a 2018 investigation that originated when one of the victims went to Illinois State Police with her claims of rape.

However, according to the News-Gazette, the office of the state appellate prosecutor, appointed at the time because Sandage was still a UI police officer, declined to file criminal charges in that case.

Not until 2019 did his own department find that he was using police resources to look up personal information on his victims to stalk them. Once this was uncovered, State’s Attorney Julia Rietz filed seven counts of official misconduct against Sandage in December.

After his arrest on multiple counts of misconduct, the allegations that were once thrown out due to his blue privilege, received a second look. Other victims were then interviewed and Sandage’s phone was searched. What they found was an incredibly disturbing profile of a serial rapist with countless victims going back years.

“They found hundreds of thousands of images and pieces of data going back years,” Rietz said. “There are still potential victims out there that have not been identified yet.”

Judge Rules Illinois Governor Exceeded Authority, Violated Civil Rights with Coronavirus Stay-at-Home Order

A judge on Monday ruled Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Coronavirus stay-at-home order exceeded his emergency authority and violated civil rights, the Washington Times reported.

A judge on Monday ruled Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Coronavirus stay-at-home order exceeded his emergency authority and violated civil rights, the Washington Times reported.

Democrat Governor Pritzker on April 2nd issued an authoritarian lockdown order shutting down schools, non-essential businesses and severely limited individuals from moving about the state.

Pritzker was furious after the judge ruled against him and lashed out at the Republican lawmaker as being someone who is “blindly devoted to ideology and the pursuit of personal celebrity.”

Via The Washington Times:

A judge in southern Illinois ruled Monday that Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order to stem the spread of the coronavirus exceeds his emergency authority and violates individual civil rights.

Pritzker promised “swift” action to overturn the judge’s order, which applies only to Bailey but allows other individuals and groups to challenge the movement restrictions while the highly contagious illness circulates.

The ruling came the same day House Republicans attacked Pritzker on another front, renewing demands for details on state prison inmates released early because of COVID-19 fears.

Pritzker signed an order earlier this month allowing furloughs for elderly inmates or those with health conditions, who are considered “medically vulnerable” to contracting and spreading COVID-19. Roughly 36,000 people are incarcerated in Illinois facilities and civil rights advocates have raised concerns about inmate welfare.

“It’s insulting. It’s dangerous and people’s safety and health have now been put at risk,” Pritzker said. “There may be people who contract coronavirus as a result of what Darren Bailey has done.”

The judge blasted Pritzker’s stay-at-home order for violating the Constitution and shredding the Bill of Rights.

Bill Gates Says Life Will Go Back to Normal No Sooner Than One to Two Years From Now

As the spread of COVID-19 has slowed down in some states, governments there are preparing to loosen restrictions introduced amid the pandemic, reopening their economies and easing the quarantine regime.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said in an interview with France's Le Figaro that life will go back to normal after the new coronavirus pandemic no sooner than one to two years from now, even if the spread of the virus is put under control.

"We are not going to return to normal for one to two years", the billionaire said.

According to Gates, the world can get through that first stage of the pandemic by developing a system that will function "without the risk of returning to the exponential phase of epidemic progression".

He went on to say that with systems of testing and monitoring, states will be able to quickly identify virus hotspots and keep them under control, but the average lifestyle will be drastically changed due to citizens' fears of contracting the disease.

Gates also said that to return to normal life, "we will need either extremely effective treatment methods or a vaccine".

Earlier, Gates told CNBC that the world wasn't even halfway through the pandemic, saying that it's going to take a while "before things go back to normal".

The World Health Organisation declared COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on 11 March. The virus was first registered in China's Hubei province last December, later spreading across the world. Overall, more than 3 million people have been infected with new coronavirus, and over 210,800 of them have died.
