This doctor was the head of the Emergency Department at NY Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. As the head of the ED it was part of her job to ensure that all of her ED doctors followed best practice protocols when treating patients. Unfortunately, in the case of Covid-19, following the standard protocols for patients admitted with severe breathing difficulties, including ARDS, meant putting them on a ventilator, which caused extreme lung damage or death for many of these patients, mainly because their breathing difficulties were actually caused by severe oxygen deprivation as a result of the Covid virus destroying the ability of their hemoglobin to carry oxygen to their cells.

I think we will see a lot of suicides as it becomes clear to the front line ED doctors that following the standard protocols caused the unnecessary deaths of thousand of Covid-19 patients who had been intubated. I don't think that these doctors were "In on it". They were simply following standard protocols, not knowing that Covid-19 had been engineered to kill by starving the cells of oxygen, not from pneumonia. The knowledge that patients died because they followed the protocols must be extremely difficult for these front line doctors to handle.

I'm just saying that there are standard protocols for treating different diagnoses. The problem here is that they were treating the wrong disease. Even though the symptoms appeared to indicate ARDS the breathing difficulty had a different cause and required a completely different approach.

A close family friend is an attending at another NYC hospital ED, and I know that she is devastated when she loses a patient. I can't imagine what she and other ED doctors are going through right now.
