I think that's wrong, Anon. Slavery "ended" with the Emancipation Proclamation and/or the 13th Amendment. But if In hindsight, they should have declared their own freedom - grabbed it themselves. As things are today, they are still slaves - different owners and different system of control, but slaves nonetheless. Marley got this and sang about it in Redemption Song.
