"Tuesday on MSNBC, anchor Nicolle Wallace criticized both President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence while discussing the vice president not wearing a mask during his visit to the Mayo Clinic.

Wallace said, “The second-most powerful man in the world revealing himself in this video as a coronavirus truther, or at least a mask truther. He’s also much closer than 6 feet. I mean, to touch an elbow, you have to touch something. He’s closer than 6 feet. Forget he’s the vice president. This is the kind of human being that repels me in the grocery store or the Walmart. I don’t want to be that close to anybody while we’re still at this phase of the pandemic.”

She continued, “So the president and vice president have really revealed themselves as this wacky combination of conspiracy theorists, quack medical proponents and truthers. He either doesn’t believe that the mask is keeping people safe, or he doesn’t think that rule applies to him.”"

Governments don’t know what to do about Covid 19, but

they’ll lock us down before admitting it

"Most governments, institutions and experts don’t know the best way to deal with the coronavirus – that’s pretty obvious at this point – but they’ll never admit it publicly.

First, let’s start with some sympathy; global pandemics don’t happen every week, so it’s absolutely understandable that responding to one involves a level of improvisation for all involved.

Some nations are on lockdown, some aren’t. Some order populations to wear masks, some don’t. But honestly, they don’t even know how many people have Covid-19 or have died from it. Don’t fall for the show of confidence; it’s guesswork at this point.

The lockdowns are an obvious sign. Telling entire populations not to go anywhere is not a plan; it’s a lack of one. Think about all the times you’ve screamed “Don’t move.” Did you shout it because you had a strategy, or because you needed time to come up with one? Every time a lockdown is extended, it’s an admission that the authorities need a little more thinking time."

US Congress abandons return to Washington

"A sign in Congress mandates social distancing for lawmakers

The US House of Representatives will not reconvene next week following a revolt from lawmakers who complained that it was too soon to return.

On Monday, members were told to return to the Democratic-controlled chamber.

However, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said on Tuesday the plan was scrapped after consulting the House doctor.

The volte-face came as the confirmed number of US Covid-19 cases passed 1m.

The Republican-controlled Senate still plans to return on 4 May."
