Reopen the Joe Biden campaign. Ramp up social media
and name a vice president now.
Peter FuntOpinion contributor
"The 2020 presidential campaign has come to this: The presumptive Democratic nominee remains holed up in his Delaware basement, while the incumbent fumbles and bumbles at his coronavirus bully pulpit.
Maybe Donald Trump will self-defeat, giving Joe Biden the presidency by default. But Democrats canât count on that, which is why the former vice president must phase his way back into the race. Itâs time to reopen the Biden campaign.
The foundation was laid with rapid-fire endorsements from Bidenâs former boss Barack Obama, his recent rivals Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and â on Tuesday in a live-streamed town hall â from Hillary Clinton. True, Obamaâs ultra-articulate webcast made some of us long for real presidential charisma. And, yes, split-screen images of Biden and Sanders looked at times like a casting call for Grumpy Old Men III. And, granted, Warren was late and not persuasive enough for some progressives. And, alas, the Clinton event featured so much nostalgia about lunches during the Obama years that only three viewers got to ask questions.
But the endorsements reminded us that while we might be in the greatest health emergency of our lives, weâre also facing the most important election in decades."

Losing It: 72% Of Locked-Down Americans Say Theyâll
Reach âBreaking Pointâ By Mid-June
"As each individual state charts its own course out of the coronavirus pandemic, Americans all over the country are growing more and more impatient. When will we all be able to patronize a restaurant again? Enjoy a night out at the movies? Itâs impossible to say exactly when these restrictions will be lifted, but according to a new survey, one thing is definitely clear: Americans arenât going to be able to bear this lockdown much longer.
In all, 1,895 U.S. citizens over the age of 18 were surveyed earlier this month, and 72% said they expect to reach a âbreaking pointâ by mid-June if stay-at-home orders arenât lifted. In fact, 100% of respondents said they would snap if this all lasts for longer than six months. The survey was conducted between April 3rd and 6th, and at that time, 16% said they had already hit their breaking point, with that number rising to 25% within the next two weeks. That would indicate that one in four Americans have likely reached witsâ end by now."
