Almost 40 People Killed in Fire at Construction Site in South Korea
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - At least 37 people were killed and ten more were wounded as a result of a fire that broke out at a warehouse construction site in South Korea's Gyeonggi Province, local fire authorities said.
The fire began in Icheon city at 01:32 p.m. local time (04:32 GMT) on Wednesday and was extinguished five hours later. The previous reports indicated that 25 people were killed and seven more were injured in the fire.
"The death toll from the fire, which occurred this afternoon in Moga-myeon township of Icheon city, Gyeonggi province, is 37 people. There will probably be more victims," the authorities said, as quoted by The Chosun Ilbo newspaper.
According to the newspaper, eight of those ten injured are currently in critical condition.
Chung Sye-kyun, the South Korean prime minister, had arrived in the site of the blaze, the media said.

Former National Security advisor Gen. Michael Flynn may be exonerated this week
Michael Flynn may get exonerated this week after President Donald Trump signaled he might pardon the former National Security advisor.
Maria Bartiromo wrote in a post on Twitter on Sunday saying that Flynn will be “completely exonerated this week,” adding, “It was a total fraud. A Set up.”

Flynn, 61, pleaded guilty in federal court in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 1, 2017, for lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigations about his contact with Moscow’s then-ambassador to the United States, Sergei Kislya, during President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Flynn was an advisor on the Trump campaign.
Trump wrote in a March 15 post on Twitter that he was “strongly considering” pardoning Flynn.

GOP Sen. Hawley asks DOJ to open a criminal investigation into Amazon
Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is asking the Department of Justice to open a criminal investigation into Amazon in a letter sent Tuesday.
The request follows a report that said Amazon employees had used data from third-party sellers to create rival Amazon private-label products.
Two lawmakers in the House of Representatives called out Amazon for potentially misleading Congress about its use of seller data following the Journal’s report on Friday.

Chinese Navy expels US warship from territorial waters
A US warship was “expelled” from disputed South China Sea waters after Beijing’s navy scrambled fighter jets and naval assets to escort it away, accusing Washington of “provocative” actions at sea.
The USS Barry, a guided missile destroyer, “trespassed” into Beijing’s territorial waters near the disputed Xisha Islands – also known as the Paracel Islands – on Tuesday, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy said in a statement. The incident marks the first time the navy “actively announced” an illegal trespass in the area, according to the Global Times.
“The US’ provocative actions seriously violated international law and related norms, seriously violated Chinese sovereignty and security interests, and intentionally increased regional security risks,” said Senior Colonel Li Huamin, a spokesperson of the PLA Southern Theater Command, adding that the incident could have led to an “accident.”

That’s not good. But it’s not as bad as the 2017-2018 flu season, when 80,000 -plus perished. And it’s a long cry from what all the experts were warning about just a few weeks ago: First, they predicted 1.7 million Americans dead; then they redid the models (this time apparently entering a few more “facts”) and said 100,000-240,000 dead.
Now, a major model relied on by the White House Coronavirus Task Force predicts about 70,000 dead by the end of August.
And for that we shut down the U.S. economy?!
As the coronavirus swept across China, then Europe — then everywhere — the U.S. media breathlessly reported every terrifying number, almost gleefully. Their ratings soared, of course, as they scared the hell out of every American, many of whom have stayed home for the last 40 days, emerging only to buy toilet paper, but even then clad in masks and tiptoeing in fear.
