Seth Rich Case in DC is Reminiscent of Other Big Deep State Related Cases – Information Comes Very Slowly As if a Cover Up

It seems like nearly every week more evidence is released that indicates the Seth Rich story has some merit.

Attorneys in a Washington DC court claim that despite numerous requests for information, individuals related to their Seth Rich case are not providing evidence requested. Overall, there appears to be a massive coverup reminiscent of other Deep State cases in the news these past few years.

Attorney Eden Quainton sent a letter dated March 27, 2020, to Judge Richard Leon, where his client is being sued by Seth Rich’s brother, Aaron Rich. In the bizarre case, Seth Rich’s brother is suing Ed Butowsky for making statements that he claims are false.

According the court filing, Aaron must establish that it would be false to state or suggest that Aaron (I) participated in leaking emails to Wikileaks, (2) received funds in exchange for leaking or participating in leaking emails to Wikileaks, (3) interfered with “investigations,” ( 4) “knew the hit was coming” and/or warned Seth that he was in danger and (5) engaged in an altercation with Donna Brazile before Seth Rich’s murder.

In the filing, the defendants note that they have identified 5 email accounts related to Seth Rich. One account was registered after Seth Rich’s death. The defendants also note that Aaron rich received some funds that have not been verified with a reasonable explanation for the reason behind his receipt of these funds.

The defendant is requesting additional information in this case which the plaintiff, Aaron Rich, has not yet provided, like his correspondence with certain redacted email accounts, and numerous other items. Seth Rich’s girl friend and roommates have been identified and some items have been provided, but some not. The DC police department has not provided items to date in the case.

Seth Rich’s work mates at the DNC have been subpeoned to provide evidence, much of which in not yet provided. Michael Issikof, of Steele dossier fame, has been served but refuses to produce documents. Donna Brazile has been served and is providing some documents.

The FBI, the DNC and Crowdstrike (the firm that claims Russia hacked the DNC and provided emails to WikiLeaks) will be served soon. Journalist Sy Hersh, has been served but has not produced documents even though, according to the filing Hersh claimed that an FBI source read him portions of a report that said Seth Rich provided emails to WikiLeaks and requested money in return.

'If we hanged traitors like our forefathers did, we would all be at work today'

As hundreds of lockdown protesters converged Tuesday upon Raleigh, North Carolina, demanding that Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper reopen the state's economy and lift his stay at home order, four of the protesters were arrested, the News & Observer reported.

The demonstrators were handcuffed after they stepped upon the sidewalk outside the governor's mansion in violation of police instructions, the paper said.

ReOpenNC leader Ashley Smith was among the arrestees, the News & Observer reported. As she was being handcuffed, the 33-year-old yelled that officers were "dishonoring the flag" and that her "tax dollars" paid for the sidewalk she was standing upon.

"This is how Nazi Germany started," her husband, Adam Smith, remarked, according to the paper. Smith used a bullhorn to call each officer outside the governor's mansion a "little piggie," the News & Observer said, adding that other protesters handed him bail money.

Before her arrest, Ashley Smith stood in a pickup truck and delivered a speech, the paper said: "We'll all go to church, we'll open our businesses, and we'll buy what we want. We will not go down gently. … If you feel the need to stay home, it is your God-given right to do so. But we want to live!"

The other arrestees were Wendy Kath Macasieb, 53; Lisa Marks Todd, 55; and Jonathan Warren, 35, the News & Observer said. All four arrestees were charged with violation of the executive order and resisting a public officer, the paper said, adding that Warren also was charged with injury to real property.

What did the governor have to say?

During a Tuesday news conference, Cooper said he understands it's "frustrating to be at home so much" and knows "people with families that are hanging by a thread," the paper said, adding that despite the difficulties the time to reopen hasn't arrived.

"The thing we have to put first and foremost is the public health and safety of North Carolinians," Cooper added, according to the News & Observer. "We have to make sure that things are safe. I'm very eager to move into our phases of reopening. We have a way to look at the indicators to tell us how fast we are going to get there. I hope we move through these as quickly as possible."

Cooper announced an extension of his stay-home order until May 8, the papers said, adding that he also established benchmarks that the state must meet in order to begin relaxing the restrictions.

Rebuild a better world? First we need to accept that the West’s economies were utterly broken before Covid-19 came along

The pandemic lockdowns are creating a global depression that’s likely to be the worst in history. We can’t go back to what passed for normal; we need to be courageous and take radical measures to reboot our economies.

Desperate times require desperate measures and a global depression is going to be desperate – which is why we need an open and honest debate about the problem, before rushing to apparent solutions that would be worse than the cure.

There can be no question that the economic impact of the Covid-19 crisis is going to be immense. The second-quarter forecasts suggest we are experiencing the deepest, fastest drop in economic activity since governments began calculating their nation’s GDP on a quarterly basis. An economic tsunami is about to hit with a number of huge waves straight ahead.

But using the metaphor of a devastating natural disaster to describe the toll that the pandemic will take on the global economy is dangerous. Why? Because it suggests that this acute health crisis and the measures taken to combat it are the cause of our economic woes. In reality, Covid-19 infected an already chronically diseased economy, which remains undiagnosed and untreated.

This is a point that needs stressing again and again. The looming depression is not a Covid-19 one. This confuses a symptom with an underlying cause. Global growth and, especially, advanced-economy growth were already dismal before Covid-19. And they have been for years. Economic forecasts for this year were already pretty downbeat before most people were aware of the word coronavirus.

Yes, the Covid-19 crisis has resulted in unprecedented government actions. In the UK, the Treasury now expects to borrow an extra £150 billion ($186 billion), the equivalent of one-and-a-half infrastructural projects like the HS2 rail project, in four months. That’s more than the country has ever borrowed, and more than in wartime. And given that a return to pre-Covid-19 normality remains uncertain, this might just be the start.

This is why there has recently been talk about imposing a one-off wealth tax. The idea is that everyone – households and businesses, rich and poor – has to pay a sum equivalent to a chunk of their net assets. This would reverse taxation regimes across the world which tax income far more than the taxation of wealth.

Another downside of stay-at-home orders: Child sexual abuse hotline reports 22% jump during lockdown; minors make up half of all calls for first time

Policies have consequences

Americans across the country have complained about — and even taken to the streets to protest against — the negative impacts of the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. Tens of millions of people have lost their jobs. Business owners have had to close their doors. Churches can't hold services. Parents are swamped trying to teach their own kids at home while working remotely and trying to maintain some sort of sanity in their home. State and local authorities are threatening crackdowns on their own people.

Add to this list one of the most tragic developments to come out of the nation's decision to close down everything in response to the pandemic: a massive increase in child sexual abuse.

The National Sexual Assault Hotline saw the number of calls from minors reporting sexual abuse jump by more than 20% in March, NPR reported.

What is happening?

The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, which runs the hotline, revealed this month the number of monthly calls from kids under 18 was up 22% for the month of March.

RAINN Vice President Camille Cooper told NPR on Tuesday that for the first time half of all calls were from minors.

According to NPR and RAINN, of the children who called the hotline in March with coronavirus-related concerns, 67% said their perpetrator was a family member, and 79% said they were living with the perpetrator.

RAINN said that in 1 out of 5 of those calls where the minor was living the the perp, the organization was able to help the child contact the police during the call; and 4 in 10 calls involved a discussion of how to leave or at least avoid the perpetrator.

The uptick is clearly connected to coronavirus stay-at-home orders, RAINN President Scott Berkowitz noted.

"Unfortunately for many, and especially for children experiencing sexual abuse, 'stay at home' doesn't mean 'safe at home,'" he said in a release on the organization's site.

Cooper told NPR the increase in abuse was a "direct result" of current quarantine policies:

As a result of looking at the information that we had from those sessions, it was clear that the abuse was escalating in both frequency and severity. So a lot of the kids that were coming to the hotline were feeling pretty vulnerable and traumatized. And it was a direct result of COVID-19, because they were quarantined with their abuser. The abuser was now abusing them on a daily basis.

NPR said that, according to RAINN, one-third of child sexual abusers are family members. So closing schools and prohibiting kids' activities such as sports and clubs "removes children from the watchful eyes of 'mandatory reporters' — those trusted adults, like teachers, nurses and child care providers, who are required by law in most states to report suspicions of child abuse or neglect."

Worth noting is the fact that these numbers are for March — and the first lockdown orders began in the last half of the month. April's numbers could be even more harrowing.

"Holy God. We're About To Lose Everything" - Pandemic Crushes Overleveraged Airbnb Superhosts

"History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes," as Mark Twain is often reputed to have said. Before the 2007-2008 GFC, people built real estate portfolios based around renters. We all know what happened there; once consumers got pinched in the GFC, rent payments couldn't be made, and it rippled down the chain and resulted in landlords foreclosing on properties. Now a similar event is underway, that is, overleveraged Airbnb Superhosts, who own portfolios of rental properties built on debt, are now starting to blow up after the pandemic has left them incomeless for months and unable to service mortgage debt.

We have described the financial troubles that were ahead for Superhosts in late March after noticing nationwide lockdowns led to a crash not just in the tourism and hospitality industries, but also a plunge in Airbnb bookings. It was to our surprise that Airbnb's management understood many of their Superhosts were overleveraged and insolvent, which forced the company to quickly erect a bailout fund for Superhosts that would cover part of their mortgage payments in April.

The Wall Street Journal has done the groundwork by interviewing Superhosts that are seeing their mini-empires of short-term rental properties built on debt implode as the "magic money" dries up.

Cheryl Dopp,54, has a small portfolio of Airbnb properties with monthly mortgage payments totaling around $22,000. She said the increasing rental income of adding properties to the portfolio would offset the growing debt. When the pandemic struck, she said $10,000 in rental income evaporated overnight.

"I made a bargain with the devil," she said while referring to her financial misery of being overleveraged and incomeless.

Dopp said when the pandemic lockdowns began, "I thought, 'Holy God. We're about to lose everything.'"

Market-research firm AirDNA LLC said $1.5 billion in bookings have vanished since mid-March. Airbnb gave all hosts a refund, along with Superhosts, a bailout (in Airbnb terms they called it a "grant").

"Hosts should've always been prepared for this income to go away," said Gina Marotta, a principal at Argentia Group Inc., which does credit analysis on real estate loans. "Instead, they built an expensive lifestyle feeding off of it."

We noted that last month, "Of the four million Airbnb hosts across the world, 10% are considered "Superhosts," and many have taken out mortgages to accumulate properties to build rental portfolios."

Airbnb spokesman Nick Papas said the decline in bookings and slump in the tourism and travel industry is "temporary: Travel will bounce back and Airbnb hosts—the vast majority of whom have just one listing—will continue to welcome guests and generate income."

Papas' optimism about a V-shaped recovery has certainly not been echoed in the petroleum and aviation industry. Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun warned on Tuesday that air travel growth might not return to pre-corona levels for years. Fewer people traveling is more bad news for Airbnb hosts that a slump could persist for years, leading to the eventual deleveraging of properties.

Portugal to take “unaccompanied migrant children” from Greece

The European Union announced yesterday that Portugal has agreed to take 50 so-called “unaccompanied migrant children” from the reception centres on the Greek islands. It is one of 10 European Union member states that has agreed to accept children from the camps.

Pro-migrant groups have been calling for EU countries to accept migrants to reduce overcrowding in the camps. Given the high population density and poor sanitary conditions in them, they are considered particularly at risk during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Reducing their populations — so the argument goes — will allow migrants to practice social distancing measures.

EU Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson made the announcement following a video conference between EU interior ministers. The migrants will be brought to Portugal next month, according to a report by Infomigrants.

The EU’s plan is to eventually transfer 1,600 unaccompanied migrant children to other member states. So far Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, and Luxembourg have also agreed to accept them.

Germany and Luxembourg have already received some. The children were immediately placed in a 14-day quarantine as a precaution.

Although it was initially promised that the transferred migrants would mostly be girls under the age of 14, photos that were released of migrants entering Luxembourg earlier this month suggested that this is not the case, with most of them being older boys, as previously reported by Voice of Europe.

77 Brigade: Is British Military Waging an Information War on Its Own Population?

Last Wednesday, during the daily UK Government Coronavirus livestream, the head of the British Army, General Sir Nick Carter, bragged:

We’ve been involved with the Cabinet Office Rapid Response Unit, with our 77th Brigade helping to quash rumours from misinformation, but also to counter disinformation. Between three and four thousand of our people have been involved, with around twenty thousand available the whole time at high readiness.

To understand the implications of this statement, we have to go back to 2018, when Carter gave a speech to the Royal United Services Institute.

“In our 77th Brigade,” he said, “… we have got some remarkable talent when it comes to social media, production design, and indeed Arabic poetry. Those sorts of skills we can’t afford to retain in the Regular component but they are the means of us delivering capability in a much more imaginative way than we might have been able to do in the past.”

Previously known as the ‘Security Assistance Group’, 77th Brigade was stood up in 2015 as part of ‘Army 2020’. The Security Assistance Group had been established following the amalgamation of the Media Operations Group, 15 Psychological Operations Group, Security Capacity Building Team, and the Military Stabilisation and Support Group.

77th Brigade is described on their website as being about ‘information and outreach’. But what does that mean? General Carter again:

We also, though, need to continue to improve our ability to fight on this new battlefield, and I think it’s important that we build on the excellent foundation we’ve created for Information Warfare through our 77th Brigade, which is now giving us the capability to compete in the war of narratives at the tactical level. [Emphasis mine]

It is in this context, then, that Carter’s words from last week’s livestream should be viewed. Carter has acknowledged that the British military is waging war on a section of its own population.

‘Rapid Response Unit’

Carter mentioned working with the Cabinet Office’s ‘Rapid Response Unit’. Established in April 2018 and also known as the ‘fake news unit’, the Rapid Response Unit was given an initial six months’ funding. It brought together a “team of analysts, data scientists and media and digital experts,” armed with cutting-edge software, to “work round the clock to monitor online breaking news stories and social media discussion.”

According to the RRU’s head, Alex Aiken:

The unit’s round the clock monitoring service has identified several stories of concern during the pilot, ranging from the chemical weapons attack in Syria to domestic stories relating to the NHS and crime.

As Social Media Giants Continue Their Conservative Bias and Purge – AG Barr Holds Workshop to Discuss How to Best Address Tech Tyranny and Censorship

More and more conservative thought is being destroyed by the social media giants and the fake news media. Americans was protection for their free speech rights but the Mainstream Media (MSM) and social media giants don’t. It’s time for action and AG Barr is aware of this issue. On February 19, 2020, AG Bill Barr held a workshop regarding the current environment related to free speech in the media. In remarks for delivery to the workshop, the AG shared three observations:

First, civil tort law can act as an important complement to our law enforcement efforts. Federal criminal prosecution is a powerful, but necessarily limited tool that addresses only the most serious conduct. The threat of civil liability, however, can create industry-wide pressure and incentives to promote safer environments. In fact, Congress has enacted civil laws specifically to supplement criminal enforcement. For example, the Anti-Terrorism Act provides civil redress for victims of terrorist attacks on top of the criminal terrorism laws, yet judicial construction of Section 230 has severely diminished the reach of this civil tool. Civil liability can work hand-in-hand with the department’s law enforcement efforts to promote a safer environment, both online and in the physical world.

Second, broad Section 230 immunity can pose challenges for the department and other federal agencies in certain civil enforcement matters. Actions brought in the public interest by the federal government do not raise the same concerns of mass liability for private speech torts that were at the core of Congress’s concerns when it enacted Section 230. It is questionable whether Section 230 was intended to allow companies to invoke the statute’s immunity against the federal government acting to protect American citizens.

Finally, and importantly, Section 230 immunity is relevant to our efforts to combat lawless spaces online. We are concerned that internet services, under the guise of Section 230, can not only block access to law enforcement — even when officials have secured a court-authorized warrant — but also prevent victims from civil recovery. This would leave victims of child exploitation, terrorism, human trafficking, and other predatory conduct without any legal recourse. Giving broad immunity to platforms that purposefully blind themselves – and law enforcers – to illegal conduct on their services does not create incentives to make the online world safer for children. In fact, it may do just the opposite.

US ‘prepared to recognize’ Israeli annexation of parts of West Bank if it restarts talks with Palestine

Israel resuming talks with Palestine is the US' condition for recognizing the former's annexation of parts of the West Bank, the State Department said. Palestinians argue, in that case, there'd be nothing left to negotiate.

“As we have made consistently clear, we are prepared to recognize Israeli actions to extend Israeli sovereignty and the application of Israeli law to areas of the West Bank that the vision foresees as being part of the State of Israel,” a US State Department spokesperson told the Times of Israel paper. However, they specified that it would require Israel “agreeing to negotiate with the Palestinians along the lines set forth in President [Donald] Trump's vision.”

The new Israeli unity government – which formed a week ago after lengthy negotiations between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his rival Benny Gantz of the Blue and White alliance – must give the Palestinians an offer “to achieve statehood based upon specific terms, conditions, territorial dimensions and generous economic support.”

Annexing Palestinian lands was Netanyahu's election promise, but – according to his deal with Gantz – he can't move on with the plan without Washington's blessing.

The State Department spokesperson insisted that the US offer was an “unprecedented and highly beneficial opportunity for the Palestinians,” despite them earlier outright rejecting Trump's so-called ‘deal of the century’ which recognized Israeli rights in those areas.

The US official's comments drew an angry reaction from Palestine, with its foreign ministry branding them “a flagrant coup against… the peace process, the principle of a two-state solution and the relevant United Nations resolutions.”

The Palestinian diplomats accused Washington of “bias” in favor of Israeli occupation of its land. The ministry “wondered what will be left to negotiate about after Israel annexes the occupied Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea and enforces Israeli law on the illegal settlements spread throughout the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem,” Wafa news agency reported.

Over the weekend, Netanyahu said he was “confident” that Trump would allow him to claim the lands in the West Bank “a couple of months from now.”

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo insisted last week that the annexation was “ultimately… an Israeli decision,” but promised that the Americans will work closely with the Israeli authorities “to share our views of this in a private setting.”

YouTube: California Doctors’ Comments on Reopening the Country Are ‘Misinformation’

YouTube has released a statement on its decision to censor a video of two doctors in Bakersfield, California, making the case for an end to Chinese virus lockdowns.

In a statement provided to 23ABC, the local Bakersfield news station that uploaded censored video, the Google-owned platform said:

We quickly remove flagged content that violate our Community Guidelines, including content that explicitly disputes the efficacy of local healthy authority recommended guidance on social distancing that may lead others to act against that guidance.

However, content that provides sufficient educational, documentary, scientific or artistic (EDSA) context is allowed — for example, news coverage of this interview with additional context. From the very beginning of the pandemic, we’ve had clear policies against COVID-19 misinformation and are committed to continue providing timely and helpful information at this critical time.

YouTube has used the pandemic to increase its censorship and control over the flow of news. It recently introduced “fact check” labels next to videos, and its CEO has warned that any information that contradicts World Health Organization guidelines will be removed from the platform. Over the weekend, the platform took down a video explaining UV light treatment from a life sciences company that has partnered with Cedars-Sinai hospital in L.A.

The video of the Bakersfield doctors’ press conference can still be found on other video-hosting platforms, and the first part remains hosted on other YouTube channels.

Arguing that the Chinese virus has proven less deadly than previously believed, the doctors argued for a speedy reopening of the country.

“We have 39.5 million people, if we just take a basic calculation and extrapolate that out, that equates to about 4.7 million cases throughout the state of California,” said Dr. Erickson. “Which means this thing is widespread, that’s the good news. We’ve seen 1,227 deaths in the state of California with a possible incidents or prevalence of 4.7 million. That means you have a 0.03 chance of dying from COVID-19 in the state of California.”

Sky News: 95% Of England’s Covid Victims Had Underlying Conditions

Recent data from England’s National Health Services (NHS) reveals that 95% of the people diagnosed with COVID-19 who died had serious underlying health issues, findings that roughly align with the data out of New York City, the epicenter of the virus in the United States.

“Ninety-five percent of people who have died with COVID-19 in hospitals in England had underlying health issues,” Sky News reported Tuesday citing data obtained by the outlet.

“The data provided by NHS England shows that, as of 5pm on 26 April, 18,749 people had died in hospital with the virus,” Sky News reports. “In a small number of cases, it was not possible to confirm if a patient did or did not have an underlying health condition. But for those where it was, 95% were found to have serious pre-existing issues. In patients over 80-years-old this figure was 96%, 60-79-years-old 95%, 40-59-years-old 88% and 20-39-years-old 82%.”

Sky News notes that breakdowns for victims under the age of 20 are not possible because it “cannot be disclosed as the sample is so small it would breach patient confidentiality rules to distinguish between those with or without pre-existing conditions.” The data also excludes “hospital deaths in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, in the community or in care homes.”

In a separate report breaking down the demographics of those who have died in connection to the virus, BBC reported Tuesday that “fewer than one in 10 of those who have died have been under the age of 60,” while “more than half of deaths have been among people aged over 80.”

The notably high percentage of underlying condition-connected deaths in England is roughly mirrored in New York City, where an overwhelming percentage of those who have died in America’s hardest-hit city have likewise been confirmed to have head a serious pre-existing condition, which the city specifies as including “diabetes, lung disease, cancer, immunodeficiency, heart disease, hypertension, asthma, kidney disease, GI/liver disease, and obesity.”

University Refuses To Share Terms Of Agreement With Biden To Keep His Senate Records Secret, Report Says

The University of Delaware is reportedly not answering questions about the terms of an agreement that they have with Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden to keep his Senate records secret until he retires from public life.

“These Senate documents are housed by the University of Delaware Library and cover a wide swath of Biden’s political career, but are being kept secret until he ‘retires from public life,’ spokeswoman Andrea Boyle Tippett told The Washington Post in July 2019,” The Daily Caller reported. “Tippett told the DCNF on Tuesday that the University of Delaware would not share the terms of the agreement between the university and Biden detailing why the Senate records may not be released.”

The Associated Press reported in mid-April that Tara Reade, who accused Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993, said she filed a written report with the Senate’s personnel office “but she didn’t receive a copy of it and has been unable to obtain one since because, she says, Biden’s Senate files are currently at the University of Delaware, which has not yet made them public.”

In an interview with The Daily Caller, Reade called on Biden to release the records, saying, “Joe Biden, I want you to release all the personnel records from 1973 to 2009 and be transparent about your office practices. I would like to hold you accountable for what happened to me, to how your staff protected you and enabled you, bullied me multiple times into silence.”

“You ended my career,” Reade continued. “You ended my job after you assaulted me. You claim to be the champion of women’s rights, but your public persona does not match your personal actions. I want this brought to light and I want you to admit it in public. I want a public apology for calling me a Russian agent and having other people try to smear my character in order to cover your crimes.”

'The Squad' Proposes Bill Allowing Feds To Literally Cancel Property Rights During Pandemic

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota has introduced a radical measure that would dismantle Americans’ property rights.

If enacted, the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act would come dangerously close to the socialist dream of stripping people of the right to control their property and would allow for another massive government expansion.

This bill, introduced April 17, would cancel all rent and mortgage payments, regardless of income or employment, for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The bill would constitute a full payment forgiveness, with no accumulation of debt for renters or homeowners and no negative impact on their credit rating or rental history,” a news release from Omar’s office says.

Furthermore, a fund would be created “to fully finance the purchase of private rental properties by non-profits, public housing authorities, cooperatives, community land trusts, and states or local governments — in order to increase the availability of affordable housing during this downturn,” the news release says.

This means private property owners would be undermined and the power of government entities would be greatly increased.

Landlords and mortgage companies could apply for lost income to a relief fund that would be established for this purpose. Only primary residences would qualify, not investment properties or vacation homes.

It is no surprise that Omar’s fellow radical House “squad” members — Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts — co-sponsored the bill, along with three other progressive Democrats.

The “squad” is determined to take maximum advantage of the suffering caused by the pandemic in order to create a large, socialist bureaucracy.

I am constantly surprised by how far biometric corporations will go to exploit COVID-19. But nothing and I mean nothing could have prepared me for what I read this past Friday.

Planet Biometrics reported that Science Media Partners is planning to hold the world’s largest “home” identity webinar from May 4th -May 12th.

‘Science Media Partners has announced plans for a groundbreaking online event entitled the Festival of Identity, noting it will be a new, positive, and exciting webinar platform that will serve the whole identity community during these difficult times.”

Calling the largest home identity webinar in the world a festival, is a misnomer at best. Dictionary.com says the definition of a festival is “unrestrained joy”, Your Dictionary calls it a “celebration.” When biometric companies show unrestrained joy for finding new ways to identify people staying at home, everyone should take notice.

What is the reason Science Media Partners is holding the world’s largest home identity webinar during a pandemic? It is to help governments and private corporations identify people staying at home, of course.

“The world finds itself in a time of great uncertainty and unprecedented change, with life having been turned upside down. Working from home has become the new normal, domestic travel has become the exception, international travel a rarity. Privacy and rights are being increasingly challenged – albeit most often with good reason. Across the world, governments and corporations are grappling with issues such as population management, dispersal of benefits, IT security and considering how we can finally exit from citizen lockdown strategies.”

COVID-19 has changed the way governments and corporations can identify and monitor people.

Governments are worried that police can no longer rely on CCTV cameras, license plate readers and contact-tracing to identify people.

“If only some company could solve this privacy dilemma and find a way for governments and corporations to monitor people at home, then we could all feel a sigh of relief”, I sarcastically said to myself.

CARES Act May Actually Delay The Recovery

The federal government is doing everything it can do to deal with an unprecedented and frightening period in the nation’s history. It has rolled out programs that will relieve financial burdens on individuals and companies, spur investment, and incentivize employers to keep employees on the job. One relief package in the CARES arsenal may, however, have unintended consequences. The CARES Act allows for an additional $600 per week to be paid to unemployed people until July 20, 2020. This part of unemployment will be funded by the federal government. This $600 greatly increases the weekly benefit to unemployed individuals, but may also work as an incentive for employees to stay at home, if the situation presents itself.

The table below calculates the regular unemployment benefits by state for an individual that was making the median weekly earnings as calculated by the Bureau of labor Statistics ($49,764 per year as of the 2020 1st quarter) using the benefits calculator at fileunemployment.org/calculator. TPA then added the extra weekly CARES amount of $600. The total benefits of unemployment are then compared to the regular pay to determine in the individual is economically better off working or filing for unemployment. Using the BLS median earnings, there are only 6 states in which it would make financial sense for people to work. In 45 states people are better off collecting unemployment. In some states the difference is quite substantial. The $600 per week is not available for a year, but looking at the difference annualized gives a better understanding of the difference. The annual difference in the following states is over $10,000 annualized: Maine $26,780, Connecticut $19,396, Iowa $15,288, Rhode Island $13,364, New Jersey $12,844, Hawaii $12,792, Colorado $11,544, Oregon $11,336, Kentucky $11,024, and Oklahoma $10,348.

There are many problems with this analysis. Most people want to work. In order to be eligible for unemployment one cannot refuse gainful employment. Earnings in states vary greatly, which is one of the reasons that why unemployment benefits vary from state to state. Still, the overall concern is still valid for 2 reasons. (1) people will normally do what is their economic interests and (2) thoughtful employers who are having difficulty, can do the math and will know that their employees are better off not working for a period of time.

The possible consequence of making unemployment more attractive is a potential delay to when employees will return to work and hence a delay in the economic recovery.

Facebook deletes event for stay-at-home protest in Michigan

The Facebook event page for an upcoming protest against extending Michigan’s state of emergency was deleted by Facebook’s staff for defying the government’s guidance on social distancing.

Protesters plan to gather Thursday morning, April 30, outside the Michigan State Capitol building and call on legislators not to extend the state of emergency, which gives Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and her administration additional executive authority to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

A Facebook event titled “Rally on the State Capitol Lawn" was created earlier this month to organize the April 30 protest, which is slated for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Lansing.

The protest’s event page was taken down by Facebook’s staff, according to a company spokesperson who said events that defy government’s guidance on social distancing aren’t allowed on Facebook.

Facebook will remove content that advocates for in-person gatherings that defy health guidance, as well as claims that discourage treatment or taking appropriate precautions, according to a spokesperson.

The April 30 event was reported to the company, which triggered a content review. A spokesperson for Facebook said reports to the company are anonymous by rule and Facebook does not report the identity of a complainant.

“We reached out to state officials to understand the scope of their orders, not about removing specific protests on Facebook,” the spokesperson said in an email to MLive. “We remove the posts when gatherings do not follow the health parameters established by the government and are therefore unlawful.”

In states like Michigan where social distancing is required for protests during the COVID-19 crisis, Facebook requires protests organized on its site to make clear calls for social distancing. The social media platform has also removed posts on anti-stay-at-home protests in California, New Jersey and Nebraska, according to a report by CNN.

Organizers of the April 30 rally in Lansing have created a second event page after the original event’s removal last week – American Patriot Rally on Capital Lawn. It’s scheduled for the same time on the same day as the previous event.

For the third time in 20 years, the Fed has targeted the middle class for the benefit of the wealthy.

Once again, the Fed Punishes Prudence.

The Fed will deploy more than $1.45 trillion in support of investors in leveraged assets—more than double the size of the 2008 Troubled Asset Relief Program, and over $7,000 for each working-age American. That includes $750 billion to purchase recently downgraded junk bonds and bond exchange-traded funds—an unprecedented intervention in the private credit markets.

Pumping trillions of dollars into corporate credit and even high-yield debt will further distort markets already shaped by a decade of easy-money policies. This is no abstract concern. The result will be an acceleration of two economy-wide transfers of wealth: from the middle class to the affluent and from the cautious to the reckless.

The transfer from the middle class to the wealthy continues a trend begun in the wake of the 2007-09 financial crisis.

But bankruptcies among highly leveraged businesses often pose surprisingly little risk to employment. More often than not, creditors choose to keep businesses staffed even when restructuring to retain value for the long-term. By preventing these bankruptcies, the Fed is doing more for equity holders and junior creditors than for employees.

China lied about the existence of the virus, until they could no longer hide it.

Then, they lied about the transmissibility of the virus, until it became obvious that it was transmissible between humans.

Then, they lied about the severity of the problem, while squelching the flow of information to the outside world.

When people inside Wuhan released videos of the true horrible situation, they were murdered by the Chinese government.

China did everything in their power to downplay the virus, so as to maximize the damage the virus did to the rest of the world. Had China told the world the truth early on, we may have been able to contain the virus to China – or at least be better prepared to combat it.

China evidently did not want that. They had a “if we go down, we’re taking you with us” attitude.

That is why China needs to be destroyed.

8 Women Have Accused Joe Biden Of Sexual Misconduct, Inappropriate Touching

Former Vice President and presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has been accused of sexual misconduct and inappropriate touching by at least eight women, most recently by Alexandra Tara Reade, a former aide in Biden’s Senate office in the early 1990s, who claims Biden sexually assaulted her — a claim now substantiated by several contemporaneous accounts.

Reade publicly claimed last month that Biden sexually assaulted her back in 1993 when she worked as an aide in his Senate office. Reade also says that she was fired when she considered going to authorities to report the then-senator’s behavior.

“I handed [Biden] the [gym bag]. He greeted me. He remembered my name. And then we were alone,” Reade outlined her allegation against Biden on a progressive podcast that aired last week. “It was the strangest thing. There was no like exchange really. He just had me up against the wall. I was wearing like a skirt, a business skirt. I wasn’t wearing stockings. It was kind of a hot day that day, and I was wearing heels…I remember I was wearing a blouse, and he just had me up against the wall. And the wall was cold. It happened all at once…his hands were on me and underneath my clothes. Yeah, and he went down my skirt but then up inside it, and he penetrated me with his fingers, and he was kissing me at the same time, and he was saying something to me. He said several things. I can’t remember everything he said.”

“It seemed surreal,” she added. “I felt sick because when he pulled back he looked annoyed, and he said something else to me that I don’t want to say. And then he said, I must have looked shocked. He grabbed me by the shoulders… and he said, ‘You’re OK, you’re fine.’ And then he walked away.”

Reade has since alleged corroboration to her accusation, citing a woman she says is her mother calling into “Larry King Live” and vaguely detailing an issue her daughter was having with a then-senator. Two others have come forward to corroborate elements of Reade’s allegations, too, according to a report from Business Insider.

Trump White House Orders Intelligence Agencies to Comb Communications on China-World Health Organization Collusion on Coronavirus

The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reportedly promotes what China wants him to promote.

At the Illustrated Primer website, Yaacov Apelbaum shares the links between the Director General and China. For example, in late January he met with China’s President Xi:

On February 15, 2020, the director-general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, addressed the Munich Security Conference. At that time, there were only about 60K cases of Covid-19 in China and about 500 in the rest of the world. Tedros was more concerned with misinformation than with containment. In his address, he said:

“We’re not just fighting an epidemic; we’re fighting an infodemic. Fake news spreads faster and more easily than this virus, and is just as dangerous.” And if we don’t tackle this, he went on, “we are headed down a dark path that leads nowhere but division and disharmony.”

Now the Director General is reporting whatever China wishes. As noted above by Apelbaum, China has invested millions in Ethiopia. This may be in part why Tedros has made the following statements about the WHO:

Given the misinformation about the novel coronavirus epidemic, WHO has communicated with some companies including Google to ensure that the public will get the authoritative information from the WHO.”

“Travel restrictions [to and from China] can have the effect of increasing fear and stigma, with little public health benefit.”

“The lockdown of people is unprecedented in public health history, so it is certainly not a recommendation the WHO has made.”

“The WHO highly appreciates the tremendous efforts China has made to contain the epidemic.”

Army Offers Support to Reservist Under Attack from Coronavirus Conspiracy Theorists

A U.S. Army reservist who competed in the 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan, China last fall, has become the target of conspiracy theorists spreading claims that she is "patient zero" for the coronavirus pandemic.

And now, the Army has stepped up to support her.

Pentagon leaders have denounced claims, initially embraced by the Chinese government, that the deadly virus was somehow connected with U.S. service members visiting China.

Sgt. 1st Class Maatje Benassi competed in the October games, finishing a 50-mile cycling race despite suffering bruised ribs after crashing in the last lap of the race.

Then in March, the Army reservist, assigned to the 312th Observer-Controller-Trainer unit at Fort Meade, Maryland, became the target of American conspiracy theorists who spread rumors on YouTube that she was the source of the pandemic, according to a CNN exclusive report.

Benassi and her husband, Matt, a retired Air Force officer, told CNN Business that, despite never being diagnosed with COVID-19, they now regularly appear in discussions on Chinese social media.

The couple's home address was "posted online and … before they shut down their accounts, their social media inboxes were overrun with messages from believers of the conspiracy," CNN reported.

"It's like waking up from a bad dream going into a nightmare day after day," Maatje Benassi told CNN Business in an exclusive interview.

Military.com tried to reach Benassi for an interview, but Army Reserve Command spokesman Lt. Col. Simon Flake said that she and her husband are not doing any more interviews at this time.

Meanwhile, the Army is working to protect Benassi and her husband from future harassment, according to a statement Army spokeswoman Col. Sunset Belinsky provided to Military.com.

"The Army is providing support to help Sgt. 1st Class Benassi with the public attention," Belinsky said in the statement. "As a matter of policy, the Army would neither confirm nor deny any safety or security measures taken on behalf of an individual; however, as we would with any soldier, the Army will work with the appropriate authorities to ensure that she and her family are properly protected."

Defense Secretary Mark Esper and other Pentagon officials have repeatedly denounced the Chinese government's efforts to deflect responsibility for downplaying the threat of the virus and shot back at China's initial allegation that U.S. service members may have been responsible for the COVID-19 outbreak in China.

"To have somebody … from the Chinese government come out and make a statement like that's completely ridiculous and it's irresponsible, and it doesn't get us to where we need to be," Esper said in a statement that was posted on the Defense Department's "Coronavirus: Rumor Control" webpage.

The Chinese government has since reversed its stance on the issue and intends to let the scientific community determine the origin of the virus over time, Chad Sbragia, deputy assistant secretary of defense for China, told reporters in early April.

Air Force Logistics Commander in Korea Fired Due to Loss of Confidence

A commander of the logistics readiness squadron at Osan Air Base, South Korea, has been removed from his post due to a loss of confidence in his ability to lead.

Lt. Col. Michael Kearney, commander of the 51st Logistics Readiness Squadron, was removed from his post by Col. John Gonzales, 51st Fighter Wing commander, on Tuesday, according to a spokesperson from the 51st Fighter Wing.

“The decision was made due to loss of confidence in Kearney’s ability to effectively lead the squadron,” the spokesperson said in an email.

“Kearney has been reassigned to 7th Air Force, where he will work under the A4 logistics, engineering, and force protection directorate. Maj. Hans Hobbs, 51st LRS director of operations, has assumed temporary command of the squadron until the new commander arrives,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson did not provide additional details on whether an investigation precipitated Kearney’s removal.

According to the 51st LRS Facebook group, Kearney has been at the squadron at least since 2017.

The 51st LRS contributes to the wing’s operations through planning and direction for the distribution of equipment.

Last year, airmen from the squadron helped prepare for President Donald Trump’s visit to the region for the second U.S. and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea summit held in Hanoi, Vietnam, according to a release.

Israel Expected to Seek Double US Aid, Early Delivery of Funds

Some officials warn now is not the time to ask for more

With the coronavirus pandemic putting the US in potential economic crisis, Israeli officials are keen to get as much military aid out of the Americans, and as quickly, as they can. The requests seek the aid delivery well ahead of schedule, and potentially double the agreed amount.

Israel is expected to present this as their own coronavirus-related need, with some officials saying that since US aid tends to be spent heavily on US arms, produced in US factories, it should be easy to present it as domestic spending, not foreign aid.

A lot of officials are at least reasonably sure that this will work enough that Israel’s aid isn’t in serious threat, despite the US economic woes, but some are saying this isn’t a good time to try to ask for more, and risk making the aid into a political issue at a time when a lot of people have their hands out.

Some experts are saying Israel should hold back the requests, and with the possibility that the US may consider foreign aid cuts across the board, that Israel shouldn’t ask for any exemptions.

Israel’s position, as it so often is, seems to be divided between the assumption that they can always squeeze a little more out of the US, and concerns that if they press the US at the wrong time, they may risk starting a longer-term rift for what could be a protracted period of economic weakness.
