My friend, I know you got really burned out and sort of took a hiatus, but I'm glad you have taken it back up. We need you and while I can understand this
>I don't like sorting shit into folders.
>I always feel guilty if something belongs in 2 folders and I have to decide where to put it.
That is a dilemma for sure, but honestly, being in topic folders is a lot easier for the user/peruser than by date. How would someone know to look in a certain month for the perfect meme to drop?
I am not, not suggesting re-arranging them, though!
I was thinking about you and your decision the other day because the last lolicaust I happened to check to make sure that General threads were all archived (the intention was to push them off the catalog) and I wasn't sure if the native 8kun archive was working. To my horror, the threads weren't being archived.
From my understanding MA had taken a hiatus and I covered for him for a while, after corresponding a bit he took it back up and was keeping it update. Then he stopped and no one knew. There are about 7k General threads not archived. I am still shocked and grumpy about it today.
What those of us with these tasks do is far more than anons realize, and some of it is really, really, really tedious, and it's time consuming. It can really wear on a person and we get sick of it. I think that's what happened with MA and I think that was your experience also.
But I am going to plead with you to please, please keep this up. If you don't do this, no one else is going to. Unlike with MA, where I can spend time each day and put the archives links on the 2nd tab of the spreadsheet (I doubt I will ever be able to do the missing 7,000) no one else is able to do what you do with your mega account and the Meme Library.
Please at least consider continuing and hopefully we can get some volunteers to at least help with filling up the Memes thread, as that part of the task to help you.
We are the Army of frogs, the Digital Soldiers, in service to a cause higher than ourselves, and we are worldwide - surely some fellow soldiers will volunteer in the meme and archiving corps.
