New sobering statistics show COVID-19 is disproportionately impacting communities of color in King County.

Officials said many people of color are essential workers so they’re at higher risk for exposure and equal access to testing has been an issue.
“We are really still at the beginning of this ordeal,” said King County’s Top Health Officer Dr. Jeff Duchin. “It’s going to be with us, challenging us for many more months.”
Officials said over the past month, the proportion of COVID-19 cases among whites has gone down, while the proportion of cases among communities of color has gone up.
