Pope Benedict links dominance of ‘homosexual marriage…abortion’ to spiritual power of ‘Anti-Christ’

Pope emeritus Benedict XVI said that prayer is needed to ‘resist’

May 1, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI linked the dominance of “homosexual marriage” and “abortion” in the world — such that it brooks no dissent without fear of punishment — to the “spiritual power of the Anti-Christ” in a new biography.

“One hundred years ago,” Benedict stated in the biography by Peter Seewald, “everybody would have considered it to be absurd to speak of a homosexual marriage. Today, one is being excommunicated by society if one opposes it.” The same applies to “abortion and to the creation of human beings in the laboratory,” Benedict added.

“Modern society is in the middle of formulating an anti-Christian creed, and if one opposes it, one is being punished by society with excommunication,” he went on to say. “The fear of this spiritual power of the Anti-Christ is then only more than natural, and it really needs the help of prayers on the part of an entire diocese and of the Universal Church in order to resist it.”

The over 1,000-page authoritative biography, titled Benedikt XVI: Ein Leben (in German) and Benedict XVI The Biography: Volume One (in English) is scheduled for release in German May 4 and in English Nov. 17. A pre-release copy of the book was obtained by LifeSiteNews. Seewald has co-authored several books with Benedict and has also already published an autobiographical interview-book with the former Pope.

Harvard math professor put on administrative leave after report of ties to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein

The disgraced billionaire pedophile gave $6.5 million to the professor's research center

A report of the ties between Harvard University and deceased billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein has led to a math professor being placed on administrative leave.

The report was ordered by Harvard's president and found troubling access given to Epstein at the behest of Martin Nowak, a director of the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics. Epstein gave $6.5 million to help establish the research center in 2003.

According to the Associated Press, the report found that Epstein was allowed to have an office at the office of the program by Nowak, who bent the security rules to give Epstein unfettered access.

Nowak said that the office belonged to Epstein "in name only," but the report found differing accounts from others in the program.

Officials put Nowak on leave on Friday while their investigation into his behavior continued.

"We do not take this step lightly, but the seriousness of the matter leads us to believe it is not appropriate for Professor Nowak to continue in his role," said Claudine Gay, a Harvard dean.

The report found that other faculty members travelled with Epstein and even visited in jail.

The accusations against Epstein gained new life in 2019 as more women went to the press and told their stories of sexual assault by the politically connected billionaire.

He was found dead in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 after what appeared to be a suicide. The highly charged circumstances of his death led to many conspiracy theories relating to the powerful people that he might have been able to implicate in his crimes had he continued to live.

Here's more about Epstein's Harvard contributions:

‘Freedom Is Essential’: Protest Against Coronavirus Stay-at-Home Orders in L.A.

LOS ANGELES, California — Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Los Angeles City Hall on Friday to oppose Gov. Gavin Newsom’s coronavirus stay-at-home orders and to demand the economy be re-opened.

Hundreds more circled the area on a parade route of vehicles, many decorated with American flags and protest signs — “Freedom is essential” — honking their horns in solidarity with the crowd on the City Hall steps.

The protest was organized by a group called “We Have Rights,” with the support of other groups, such as the Libertarian Party of Los Angeles County. Half a dozen rallies were held Friday across Southern California.

A woman who identified herself as a nurse, holding a sign that said, “Stop Newsom Open California,” told Breitbart News that she wanted to see the whole country reopened — “Not just California, all the states.”

She noted that while she had been able to stay at work without becoming sick, many patients in need of care had been unable to come to the hospital for treatments other than for coronavirus. “People are suffering,” she said.

Almost all of the signs were homemade. One man drew an image of the Statue of Liberty being arrested:

Other signs targeted Gov. Newsom, who courted controversy this week by closing beaches in Orange County — as they have been closed for weeks in Los Angeles County and elsewhere:

Some demonstrators brought their children — all of whom are home from school. Some complained about the lack of recreation; others held signs protesting their parents being sent home from “non-essential” jobs.

New Mexico’s Dem Governor Extends Stay-at-Home Order to May 15, Despite Low # Cases

New Mexico’s Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham extended her stay-at-home executive order on Thursday to May 15, despite the relatively low number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the state when compared to the other 49 states in the country.

The governor eased restrictions on a few businesses previously defined as “non-essential” and ordered to shut down, such as shooting ranges, golf courses, and pet services. In addition, some “non-essential” retail businesses were allowed to operate curb-side services. But many more businesses still classified as “non-essential” remain shut down.

The language of the executive order was quite specific that “All businesses, except those entities identified as ‘essential businesses’, are hereby directed to reduce the in-person workforce at each business or business location by 100%, except as provided herein.”

“The New Mexico Department of Public Safety, the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the Department of the Environment, and all other State departments and agencies are authorized to take all appropriate steps to ensure compliance with this Order,” the executive order continued.

As of May 1, New Mexico has had 123 coronavirus deaths out of a population of a little more than two million, which equals 59 coronavirus deaths per million residents, less than one-third of the average for the country of 196 coronavirus deaths per million residents, according to Worldomoter.

To date, just five percent of those who have been tested in the state have been confirmed as positive (3,411 out of 67,869 tested, according to the COVID Tracking Project as of May 1. Late Monday the New Mexico Department of Health announced that there are now 3,513 cases of coronavirus in the state.) This is far less than the national average of 16 percent of those who were tested that were positive as of May 1 (1,068,892 out of 6,322,ooo million tested). Only 172 coronavirus patients are currently hospitalized in the state.

The criteria for a Phase One reopening included in the guidelines established by the Trump administration for state governments last month included three different areas of focus: cases, symptoms, and hospitals.

For cases, the guidelines specified meeting either of two criteria: (1) Downward trajectory of documented cases within a 14-day period OR (2) Downward trajectory of positive tests as a percent of total tests within a 14-day period (flat or increasing volume of tests).

For hospitals, the guidelines specified the requirement to meet both of two criteria: (1) Treat all patients without crisis care, AND (2) Robust testing program in place for at-risk healthcare workers, including emerging antibody testing.

For symptoms, the guidelines specified the requirement to meet both of two criteria: (1) Downward trajectory of influenza-like illnesses (ILI) reported within a 14-day period, AND (2) Downward trajectory of covid-like syndromic cases reported within a 14-day period.

Gov. Lujan Grisham made no mention of the Trump administration’s Phase One guidelines in her statement announcing her renewal of the stay-at-home executive order until May 15 on Thurdsay, nor did she cite any actual data for cases, hospitals, and symptoms.

Instead, the governor’s decision was apparently based, in part, on epidemiological models developed specifically for the state at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, which is located in the state, as KOB reported:

Using new projections based on research from Los Alamos National Lab, Dr. David Scrase of the Human Services Department said he expects cases in New Mexico to continue to grow over next six weeks. The models predict 7,200 COVID-19 cases by beginning of June.

Dr. Scrase also said all 14 ICU beds in McKinley County area are full. Patients in the area are being transported to Albuquerque, where adjustments are being made to expand ICU capabilities because ICU beds at the major hospitals are also full.
