If you've taken biology 101 you know masks don't do jack shit for this virus. Before all of this, you would see some asians in pictures from news and whatnot wearing masks on public transportation or just around while they're out. This isn't to keep them from getting sick, it's to keep them from spreading their sickness.

You're half right. You can most certainly catch and pass a virus. Your cells don't spontaneously create a virus strain that happens to be the same one everyone else's cells are spontaneously creating. The virus injects packets of DNA into cells that rewrites them and forces them to reproduce the virus which can then be transferred between hosts. These DNA or RNA strands are called virons. A virus is literally defined as an "infectious agent" that only replicates inside living cells of organisms.
