the money is made from construction and taxes to the towns, skimmed into pension funds.
the 'value' is concocted. The market for all the mall space only exists in a small contained population of insiders in that 'space'.
If it sells for pennies on the dollar it won't be sold to you.
You won't be able to buy your space for your cart. they aren't going to give you any discounts.
there was a compnay who was in the office space business, another one of the start up type when they say 'here it is, bow to it, we will only use this now' like a facebook or twitter kind of imposed structure. So the company that was buying 'office space' and 'leasing' it to day jobbers . . . had some troubles.
as I read that story I thought 'these people are here to take money to prop up the value of all that useless and with air that chokes you giant interior voids that are known as shopping malls.
pyramid scheme.
the shopping mall is a passee not because it's a bad idea to have public space. It's passee becuase it's a bad idea to have all construction and business space controlled by cartels and monopolies that profiteer on the construction and taxation, and don't care about the use or the success of public space, but only how to take that money and use it for themselves. The monies to build the public spaces are laundered into the construction of the private places where the public is not allowed. So you get mansions on the vinyard and crumbling malls.
as well the 'charity' space is like this too. Monies are 'for the poor' and laundered into the pension funds of the officers of the charity.
a 'charity' guy retires after a year or two with a million dollar a year salery for life . . .
or how various trusts are looted of their lands and holdings . . . like what happened to acreage that had been given to various organizations for the use for out door adventure.
It gets looted off. Some bought it for a low price.
merger and bankruptcy are used to loot these kinds of trust.
the public trust hospitals were mostly looted like this too.
