Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York, signed a decree on Jan. 4 that allows the space at 1101 Bay St. to be repurposed for secular use.

Head of School Albert R. Cauzpreviously headed a school in Puerto Rico that was also pre-K thru 12.He started his career as a university lecturer in Salamanca, Spain and took up an open position in the foreign languages department at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut. There, Mr. Cauz found his true vocation. Working closely every day with high school students, teaching them, coaching their teams,living in their dorms, he realized he had found his natural home.
The Academy Board of Trustees is an independent volunteer body that oversees the school.

Vanderbilt Cemetery/Moravian Cemetery

Vanderbilt Family Cemetery and Mausoleum sits on the eastern slope of Todt Hill, in the New Dorp section of Staten Island. The Cemetery is adjacent to Moravian Cemetery.
The Vanderbilt Mausoleum was designed by Richard Morris Hunt and constructed between 1884 and 1886. it has 125 Interment Spaces, Only 28 Vanderbilt family members are entombed here, and 2 memorialized on crypts.
The Sloane Family Mausoleum was built around 1900 and designed by Hunt & Hunt.
The grounds of the cemetery and around both mausoleums were designed and created by Frederick Law Olmstead, who designed Central Park.
It is a private family cemetery and is currently not open to the public.

A monument to Robert Gould Shaw, a Union soldier who led the first all-black regiment in the American Civil War and died in the Second Battle ofFort Wagner (related to Susan E. Wagner?), was erected at the Moravian Cemetery by his family. The director Martin Scorsese also has a burial plot here.
