Adding URLs to Saved Files for Later Reference

First of all, I’d like to note that I’m not a techie, and would value any input regarding the following.

For some time I have struggled with remembering exactly where I found files I have saved. So, I’ve done a little testing to add urls to properties of these files once I’ve downloaded them. It helps, especially if there are multiple sources, some of which might not be valid at a later date. I wanted to share this in case anyone else has had similar problems, or would like to avoid such problems.

This is by no means an exhaustive list.

(see pic for a sample of examples) Possible for .mp4, .jpg, .jpeg, .mp3, .wmv, .mov, .wma

No fields available in .png, .webm, .rmhd, .flv, .mkv, .vob, .pdf, .zip, .bmp

. avi and .mpg contain potential fields, but they did not seem to be editable, even with full permissions.

In some cases, I’ve had to add ‘Full Control’ permission in the Security tab to edit fields. Additionally, I understand it is possible to convert files to types compatible with property editing capability and available fields.
