Just stop taking the measurements……
"Since measurements began 50 years ago, the amount of carbon dioxide in New Zealand's air has risen from 326 parts per million to 409ppm.
Some might expect that number to have fallen during the lockdown, but it has remained firmly steady.
The lockdown has made the measurements a challenge. Gordon Brailford, Niwa's principal technician on the project, had to find a way to automate the process to take readings without a scientist having to drive all the way to Baring Head.
He's also rigged up his own air quality measurements in his garage, to track the quality of Lower Hutt's air.
Brailford says it's not necessarily surprising that the Baring Head measurements have seen little-to-no change. "
