it's interdasting that these meat shortages are only hitting the big corporate stores

i buy meat from a local butcher in Houston, and at my farm in the country - no shortages

my chicken farming friend 20 miles away just loaded out his crop - no issues with them getting to slaughter for processing

hmmm…

ackchually, we do our own butchering for cuts of meat. Sausage and ground meat we send to the butcher - their meat grinders are just better than what one can buy for home use.

I laugh when I read about pork shortages, knowing full well that we had to spend weeks putting in new fencing at our farm to keep the feral hogs OUT of our property - where they destroy most everything rooting for food.

I'm just not seeing IRL what I am reading online, anon.

HUGE disconnect there from my reality…

packing plants are a real problem most places

with poultry, the processors own the birds from egg - growers raise them the same way you raise veggies. But the birds are owned by processors and the growers raise them under contracts, complete with stipulations about every tiny aspect of their business.

Beef and pork are different, so far. But processors are trying to get the same deal as the poultry guys have - they want ranchers to raise animals under tight contracts

Essentially, poultry farmers are NOT making much money and are in debt to their eyeballs, with their contract employer specifying what they will pay the farmers for their crop. Tightly controlled, lots of collusion between companies and the only winners are the Sanderson Farms, Pilgrims and other outfits setting the rules. Banks are in on the loan qualifications to build our a poultry farm as well, requiring you have a contract in place before they will extend credit.

It needs to break - badly

think about the real unelected Deep State - bureaucrats

once in, they care not one whit about party affiliation - just keeping their employment

interdasting that this whole virus lie caused disruption in paychecks for everyone EXCEPT government employees and contractors

we do chickens, but can only do small scale ops.

my neighbor bought a chicken farm, grew his own and was refused at the processing plants by every single corporation - nobody would purchase his independently raised birds.

he was out of business in 18 months, and the farm was had by the bank. The guy who bought it was retired from being a coach - and he had a contract with Sanderson in place and got the repo'ed farm for a song.

it's massively fucked up - just like everything

it will break down as the dollar implodes most likely

unless they bust up the big processors - nothing will change
