A good platform to begin learning computing and coding is the Raspberry Pi - It's small cheap and disposable, but powerful enough and capable enough to learn A LOT on…. Loads of online community support for it as well. 50 Bucks for something with the power of your phone and if you mess up, you wipe it and start over.

Nice thing about PI is the Python support - great starter language, but you can load up Java, C, C++, Ruby, whatever you like once you develop preferences.

Unfortunately it is great at getting you set up as a Linux/Unix (Android/iOS) coder, it doesn't do much for you if you plan to code for Windows.
